The reason his record is so bad is because he used to be a winger.

he left cork city same time as doyle and was all second choice behind doyle, but when doyle left he got more game time, as already said a lot of his apearences were from the bench for reading and ireland and lot of the time he was on the wing which he has publicy said he doesnt want to play their. But this season has been his best by far playing where he prefers as a stricker not long before doyle and long will be the strike partnership for Ireland.
Would love to see him at Celtic think he would do the job and get rid of sammi and murphy.

After todays result, if we got in Long and punted Murphy & Rassa. That would leave us with SuperHooper, Anthony Stokes, Sammy & Shane Long....Very Tasty.

Assumming we hold on to our key midfielders Broonie, Commons, Kayal, Ledley, McCourt, Ki & Forrest. Punt or loan out McGinn.

And with Mulgrew looking like the complete footballing CB, and with Big Dan & Rogne in place and Wilson comming. We look solid at centre back. Hold on to Izzy, get Marc Wilson on a new deal, Cha Du Rai in place. We may just need cover at left back.

Goalkeeper is the only position we need to worry about. If we could get in Westwood on a free? Superb business! Mr Lennon may not just be a top manager but a feckin magician too!!

 

I don't like him. 46 goals in over 180 appearances is not a good enough return for someone who is supposed to play as a goal poacher (Hooper-type). I'd rather go for an alternative to what we already have rather than a lesser specimen.

 

You must not have read the earlier posts of why his record isnt that good.He has been second fiddle to doyle his whole career and since Doyle left he has scored almost 30 goals in one year.Hes not bad.

I'd agree with all of that tbh. If we can get Sammy and Wilsons contracts sorted and snap up Long and Westwood on frees we wouldn't really need anyone else, assuming we held onto all our key players in the process.

If I was being greedy I'd want another CB as well but Majstorovic, Rogne, Wilson and Mulgrew would be more than enough.
