I read somewhere today that representatives from Mexican club Santos Laguna are in Scotland talking about becoming a feeder club for Celtic. I think its an awesome idea and could possibly have great benefits to us if we can get 1-2 decent south Americans coming through every few years. I just hope is true more finds like Izzy would be a treat :)

Can Scottish people please please please stop criticizing Americans for our geography?

Aye it's moved though. Used to be in Central America. Now it's apparently in North America. :56:

But if you look at it on the map, you can see it's still really in Central America. :86:

never been in central america always been in north america, the usa wants to make the world believe they and canada are the only ones in northamerica but no we are in north america :50: just like they divide the continent in three different ones north america, central america, and south america. its just one continent called AMERICA.

what kutek says is correct i could see celtic getting bennefict out of these with SOUTH AMERICAN players coming over (colombian, argentine, ecuador etc) unfortunately not mexican players though theyre best players are foreigners like cucho, la cerda, benitez etc, and these players are not cheap if celtic wants young talent and at way lower prices they should look at teams that work with the youth like chivas, pumas, atlas etc .

As can clearly be seen by my correcting him? I really don't think anybody cares. It's NAFTA, not the NaCAFTA.

This happened months ago, they already did become a feeder club for us I thought

Edit: I see it was just partnership they agreed too a few months ago but they are indeed about to become a legitimate feeder club for us

Yes, I was having a joke about the fact that in Europe, Mexico was always classified as part of Central America, that's what you would be taught in school etc. But this is changing now.

    Depends who you ask though.
The United Nations still classifies Mexico under Central America -

United Nations Statistics Division- Standard Country and Area Codes Classifications (M49)

Mexico have never been in Central America (maybe just the state of Chiapas would qualify as Central American...).

WOW - talk about going off topic :56:Although I sit here (in central Europe) far better geographically educated than I was 5 minutes ago.

Either way, wherever Mexico is classed as being I think this is a great idea and great to see the club being so forward thinking - the future is looking good.

I thought that my computer had moved sites on me. Is this a Celtic forum or a geography one? Who cares where it is, it's the potential players that we are interested in. If they are good enough, they can come from the top of Mt Everest for all I care.

i know Mexico is in central america i also ment what i wrote................ please dont try to correct me when i dont need corrected getting a higher in geography paid off ;)

A few Mexican players will slip thru im sure but Santos Laguna will also have more access to South American talent due to paperwork and more scouting in the south ect. Having these ties around the world puts the club in a great place for the future. Just hoping we can get a few gem :)

There ya have it, wikipedia says so :56:

Let's not forget part of Mexico was stolen by the U.S. as well and there would have been an even greater % in North America.

All the South America, Central America, North America talk is forgetting one thing. Mexican clubs regulary plunder South American talent and in footballing terms they play in South American competitions.

    Technically he is right :icon_mrgreen:
