Most strikingly, only three clubs from outside Europe’s ‘big five’ leagues feature in any of our rankings. The Glasgow giants, Celtic and Rangers have not appeared in the Money League since 2006/07 and 2005/06 respectively but they still generated the 10th and 14th highest matchday revenues owing to their phenomenal support. Each club has average league attendances in excess of 45,000. However, the limited size of their domestic broadcast market means that, barring UEFA Champions League success, neither club is likely to reappear in the Money League top 20 in the foreseeable future.

Nothing we didn't know.....but don't think stay away fan know how much damage they are doing to the club.

Well we cant do anything about it in this pish league, the financial muscle other leagues have over us is far to much, ffs you get 2 million or something for winning the spl

And you get est 60 million for winning the epl. :50:

the answer is to sort out a separate tv deal for celtic, at the end of this current * deal.
we should take leadership over this important area of revenue.

If any team will attract more fans to games and get far in europe it will be Lennys current crop of players and we could teach "big" teams how to play football the celtic way!

As I mentioned in the main Deloitte thread, folk go on about the huge Premier League broacast revenue - but most don't realise that AC Milan, Inter Milan and Juventus ALL have higher tv income than any English club - including Man U.

Why? They negotiate their broadcast deals individually.

Yeah its time to follow the Spanish model, in which Barca and Real negotiate their own TV deals. We have to maximise all earning potential.

I think personally think this is where Rangers can help us, a joined old firm channel probably would have over +2m subcribers worldwide. And I think somewhere I read if the old firm jumped the gun and had there games solely on the net they would make much more that what they get now.

    Just say 40 games each = 80 games, now even at £1 a game that £80 a online season ticket = £80 x 2m subcribers = £160m shared = £80 million each.

Now I know that I'm leaving all the other SPL teams out here......but I think something can be worked out with that type of money.

think its a good idea but there are obviously still overheads for tv channels or web hosting but we should defo go down the road of negotiating our own deals hopefully the big english sides will want to do the same and the glasgow teams will bealble to out bid the likes of wigan in the transfer market

A think we'd get just as much without Rangers tbh, Our Fanbase in 2003 was reported to be about 9M and that would have only grown. I would be confident we got 2M subscribers with a Celtic channel alone showing our games. :50:

I dont think we need Rangers to do a joint TV deal. We would be better off on our own

I think the way to go is for the Old Firm to negotiate our own t.v deals, by doing this and setting up our own channel or an online channel like 67 with subscription fees both clubs would get large amounts of subscriptions, i would hazard a guess that both clubs could attract as many as 2-5 million customers depending on certain aspects.

Not only negotiating our own deal will bring us ten to twenty times higher tv income, as an agreement with the other clubs in the spl, when we play against them they receive a share of the earnings, obviously the share to the other clubs will be a lot smaller than what celtic will receive but at least it provides a regular income and most likely could prove to be larger than the teams get at the moment.

Celtic and Rangers won't be able to demand as high a price as Real, barca etc... but we will most definitely receive much more than we are currently getting.

Yeh but if we brought out our own T.v channel and broadcasted all our games our average home attendence would probably dwindle to about 25,000. We can't win.

Well what you would hope to happen is that if Celtic were to negotiate their own deal to broadcast their games, this increase in revenue will allow prices to be dropped in order to alleviate any negative attendances as a result of showing home games.
Watching celtic on the telly is one thing but being at parkhead is a whole lot better.

We would never be allowed to go alone. The spl, the other clubs would just threaten to set up there own leauge again without us.
Great ideas though. Also going alone without the huns would be more financially to us. Our fan base globally is huge compared to theirs. More money for us.

seems to me that 45-60k watch the SPL at Celtic park alone? Don't really know what you mean by this statement.

Don't underestimate the hold that SPL has on fans around the world, espically in the like of USA, OZ and NZ where their leagues are as poor as *. People say that the EPL is the greatest, well so it is but I have never sat and watched Wigan v Wolves. On another note I have never watched a Spanish or Italian match.

You are born a Celtic Fan and you can't get out your blood wherever you are in the world. I get up like there rest of us outside the UK at * knows what time to watch the bhoys play st. mirren, Hamilton.

So please don't underestimate the power of the SPL, it's not as bad as the media make out.

edited to add; I pay $12 a month to Setanta here in Oz to watch the us and I don't even get every game! So I would gladly pay 80 pun to watch 80 SPL games a year.

Why don't we have a poll: would you pay 80 pun a year to watch 80 SPL games a year?

its actually good and sad news all in one, we need the other smaller teams to start investing in there clubs but they wont, clubs like Hibs, Killie and Motherwell who take many trialists to their clubs and have summer signings of a total of 400k if that! isnt enough.

We need to be able to sell the league to foreign viewers and until they start heavily investing and stop looking to both the auld firm for payout days to keep them afloat it really bugs me that both Celtic and the Huns get down cried for EVERY single thing in the league without us they would be back in the dark ages of football.

The rest of the SPL are a millstone around both clubs necks and i actually feel sorry for both clubs as they are holding us back from proper riches and success afield.

I live in Ireland and I'd pay €200 a year for all games no problem and would still make it over for a good few games...
