Also like to add that does not mean I (and I'm guessing everyone else) thinks Hooper is worth £35 million. It means Carroll is only worth a third of that figure max and even at that you're paying for potential.

    Guess who....

    Am I a £35m Striker?

I scored 24 goals helping my side win promotion back to the Premier League aged just 22. In my first season in the top flight I had 15 goals by the end of January. Including a goal against the reigning champions, away at Arsenal and in a home win vs Liverpool. My form earned me an England call-up and debut in a friendly....Am a I £35m striker?

No I am Michael Ricketts, February 2002.

Lets just make sure when Hooperman leaves we get at least 10/15 Million (if he keeps it going) his goals and all round play is superb.

This thread makes me laugh! Is hooper better than carroll??? Get a grip. Hooper is great playing against the * you play week in week out but, im sorry, carroll is in a completely different league. I hope you guys save this thread and look back on it in 5 years time and then see where carroll and hooper are - carroll scoring in the champions league and hooper playing for someone like bolton or stoke

Ironic considering last season they played in the same league and Hooper was by far the better player.

I dont know a single person who thinks that Carroll is worth anywhere near what Liverpool paid for him. He's a largely unproven kid who has done well for a couple of months. He has also had some poor games in that time. He was outscored by Hooper in the only fair comparison that can be made (last season) and tbf to that dude that owns you, he should have a statue built of him as this is probably the most ridiculous transfer fee in history.

Carroll will not improve Liverpool, Suarez will.

Who scored more goals than who when they were in the same league just last season? Who played for a team that was struggling in the championship and who played for a team who was full of 'premiership' players?

    Answers in the post folks.

Carrol scored 19 in the championship last season and played 39 games

Hooper scored 20 goals and played 35 games, although this proves nothing as they are completley different type of players, liverpool have paid crazy money for a hot prospect, well thats what he is, considering he has 1 full cap and has done nothing in europe at all, if liverpool think he will bang them in they are dreaming, a mean they could have signed a proven goal scorers like van nistelrooy and fabiano combined with plenty of change for the ridiculas price they have paid for carrol.

Hooper will get over looked for england because he,s up here playing but if he continues playing the way he has been playing for the next couple of years then its only a matter of time before he starts banging the goals in on the european stage and then the vultures will start looking:50:

Carroll has proven himself at a higher level.

People are getting carried away by thinking that Hooper is on par with him

Absolutely. Hooper got 19 goals in 35 championship games with a relegation struggling team. Carroll got 15 in 39 with the runnaway champions.
Hooper is just as good, and Carroll is unbelievably overrated.

The question should be is Caroll as good as Hooper, I think these threads are a waist of time, let other teams compare their players to ours and say 'Is he is good as Celtics Hooper/Commons/Kayal etc.

We're striving for excellence and comparisons are meaningless. Celtic players should be setting the benchmark, and with the way our young players play exciting attacking football and the passion the manager demands, we're on way to being peerless is Scotland and without getting too carried away should be competitive in Europe next season!

Leave the comparisons to lesser men!:shamrock:

I think both are good exciting young players, however they are different types of strikers. For me Hooper is what I would call a typical Celtic forward, what I mean is that he quick thinking and quick on his feet over a few yards. Stevie Chalmers, Bobby Lennox, Charlie Nicholas to name but a few had similar qualities.

I really hope we can keep a hold of this young man for a few seasons, I'm convinced that if he stays injury free he will re-write many goalscoring records in Scotland.
