you could argue that both players are a work in progress the games i have seen there not much between mcginn and forrest if i had to choose who has been the best so far forrest would be just ahead since we cant really buy big anymore we as celtic fans need a little patience:celt_2:c t i d:celt_2:

Murphy I'm with you a 100% on this one mate, McGinn will never be nothing other than a squad player for us, and even at that I'm being generous. Do you remember his reluctance to join us, when he openly stated he " no way will I join Celtic, to sit on the bench" I class him in the same category as Ross wallace, Brian McGaughlan, Bobby Petta, why do we waste generous wages on people who dont bring that " something different" to Celtic ? People like Darryl Murphy, Ben Hutchison etc have had their chance at our Club, time to move people like these on, and keep their wages to pay players who will perform consistently for us. I'm sick n tired of paying good money to watch players who in simple terms just aren't good enought to wear the hoops

thats the problem with celtic as a club, the fans are beginning to except the bullshit coming out of lawells mouth that there is limited funds. Then they still expect us to fork out a fortune to watch guys like mginn and crossas murphy and a few others who are by the way not on little wages, these guys are on thousands of pounds a week.I know we are top of the league but you know what happens when the board think the other side are struggling.Lets make this transfer window count and spend a few million as the treble is there for the taking.

way not on little wages, these guys are on thousands of pounds a week.I know we Good points Murphy, disagree with your slating of Peter Lawwell tho, simply because I happen to know the guy extremely well, and have done so for many years, even before he became our Chief Exec. Lawwell, has and always will be a die-hard supporter, and believe me he is every bit a supporter as you and me, this guy has followed and supported Celtic since he was a kid, his family are die-hards too, he hurts like we all do when we get beat, but remember Peter Lawwell is only an employee of the Club, he has a restricted budget to work with, that is set by the Board, believe me he would love to have the spending powers that the likes of the big guns in europe have, but he can only pee with the * he has, the Board in my opinion, needs revamped, new faces, new initiatives, and new investors, yes there are those people in positions of importance at our club, who I would love to chase down London Rd. People like John Reid etc, who in my opinion are only taking a good income out of our Clubs coffers, and I ask you to know the facts before you slate people like Lawwell, remember clubs and big buisnesses, have headhunted him because of his buisness qualities and accumen, clubs like Arsenal, Liverpool etc, the guy could have packed his bags and went to a much fatter pay packet, but he has a serious commitment to Celtic, the same kind of commitment you and I have, A TRUE CELTIC SUPPORTER.
Yes as a club, we deserve better players and I agree with you Murphy a lot of our fans have become accustomed to watching Celtic bringing in half baked players who shouldn't be anywhere near Celtic Park, I want to see quality rather than cheap quantity, we deserve no less :50:

Jackiebhoy, while I respect your opinion mate, I genuinely would never band McGinn in the same kinda class, as James Forrest, you can see how determined Forrest is when runs on that park, ok I admit he has been a wee bit patchy since his injury (Forrest) but another two or 3 games under his belt, you will again see the real James Forrest, this wee guy puts his heart n soul into wearing that jersey, and believe me please, as Celtic fans, you are watching us build a Celtic legend in the making.

good points mate mate but i think your underestimating the power the chief exec has at celtic, also remeber the money mgeady went for theres got to be enough money there for lenny to have a right good go at glory this year.

Murphy, nothing would please me more mate, than to see us put the huns to the sword this season, but that then brings us back to the old argument again, " the board just want us on the same plane as the huns", that is what I detest, lets put them to the sword once and for all, we dont need them for us to survive

Never any end product. Get him out the team now, he's a waste of space.

Jackie mate not having a go at you pal, but I have only missed two games this season, home and away, and I have yet to see McGinn having a decent game never mind an outstanding game, I think the only time I would have complimented him on his game was back in September 2009, at Parkhead, although it slips my mind just now who the opposition was.

Reminds me of Koki Mizuno, direct player but lacking the footballing intelligence or creativity to really do much with the ball if he has time to think about it. Decent backup but i'd have maybe 2-3 others in before him every time.

Well said Skelper :50:only point i differ from you on, is I wouldn't have him anywhere near a Celtic jersey. Mark my words, this guy would be lucky to a game for any other team in the spl

I think he is good enough to stay in the squad and is valuable coming off the bench. I don't think we have a budget big enough to have a squad full of stars and I would keep him to do a job filling in for injuries and coming in as a sub when games are done and dusted, deal with suspensions/injuries etc.

I think he will never be good enough. From time to time you get a Charlie Adam or Alan Hutton who looks * for a number of years then suddenly overnight seemingly becomes a player but I can't see McGinn doing this, he is too lightweight, he is fast but not lightning fast enough to use his pace as an attribute. More importantly, unless we are playing St. Johnstone he has no end product. His crossing is poor, he can't shoot, his footballing intelligence is pretty woeful. He's never done anything to show he will ever step up, a mid to lower SPL team could use him, like St. Johnstone. All he does is make up the numbers whereas McCourt, Maloney and Forrest all offer something to the team.

If we are talking about players having a bad spell,we could say thst about most of the squad this season,so mcginn is having his bad spell, also remember the poor * had bullits sent through the post and it seems to have affected his bottle.
