My brother was looking at it. A piece of advice is that if you have a business-oriented degree you might be able to get a lot of money freelancing as an English teacher for business types who need to learn the lingo of the trade in addition to just the language. So explore that option as well as the normal teaching in school route if that's a factor for you.

I lived in the Chinese city of Kunming for 8 months working on drug prevention programs, one word of advice is too check to see if the city you are going to has a english website or forum where you can search for teaching jobs, It would be pretty simple to land a job as an english tudor but you might want to brush up on your chinese first

im from southern california- born and raised- and so of course i would tell you that this is the place to be. there are plenty of pubs or sports bars around anywhere that you could look at. also there is a pretty high demand for youth soccer coaches if thats what your looking for. maybe some other americans can correct me but i think a town like boston would be less of a transition from ireland, rather than the Los Angeles area. unless youre looking for a change.

id love to spend some time in ireland and other parts of britain so we should trade places haha

Your best bet would be the bigger cities Boston would be a great start or chicago, New York and LA or both great cities but it is harder to find a job here atm. Do you have any relatives over here? Also I would recomend trying to get an apartement sorted out before flying over.

Apartments in New York and LA are very expensive, as for job seraches you can look up camp jobs or better yet go onthe internet and find some irish pubs in the city you are looking to go to and then email them a resume and such asking for a job

Im the exact same mate, just waiting on graduating from uni though. I reckon we should all move to the same city, set up a CSC, and live near/with each other to make the transition a lot easier! Im the type of guy who needs a big kick up the * to do something, so doing something like this would make me more likely to move!
Im also thinking about doing the camp america thing this summer

I have a mate teaching English in China, one an accountant in Australia and my wee cousin has just left today to be a QS in New Zealand.

All enjoy it, no plans for returning and probably only miss friends and family which is always ever just a flight away.

It's something I've never contemplated personally but I'm less shut off to the idea then I was before.

You should know that you need some sort of visa to reside in the USA. I would firstly look into what visa you might qualify for.

I moved to the states 3 years ago(my wife is from here). Been a struggle to find good work to be honest, not quite living the dream just yet. Fingers crossed though.

sorry if this has been posted didn't read through it all

should try this Work Abroad, Summer Camp, Volunteer Abroad and Working Holiday Visa - BUNAC and go to the work america part, they ll really help with the process of getting visas and finding jobs.

I used it the last two summers for the Kamp america part and its really good was in boston last year doing mantenace around a camp was brilliant, took me rock climbing, trips to canada etc should really look into it, well worth it
