Sure we'd "give our right arm etc." to play for the Hoops. But we're not going to. Everything is speculation. If Maloney feels he can get a better deal elsewhwere fair enough. I personally feel he should wait a couple of years and then go if he still wants to.
I'm a great admirer of Lennon and agree that he is "playing for the team" but, in his case, with only a short time left in his career, he decided to stay and accept what I'm sure was still terrific money, albeit less than previously. He had made the big bucks when Celtic were paying top dollar.
    Good luck to him.

Right if Maloney is asking for big money or holding the club to ransom get him tae * as he has a great season last season but its only 1 good season he's had is he really worth the big money he is asking for . :97:

I don't like us losing any of our best players... I really hope he signs, I'd give him 25k & a 5 year deal.

What do you think he's getting offered?

well said mate:50: his agent said to the times that he wants to stay at celtic. I think the talks being postponed is a scare tactic that backfired for maloney and his agent... for once 99% of the fans are behind the club, usually the club would have been getting pelters for not throwing everything they could offer at maloney but the fans are more behind the club than ever.

A very good point there. Almost every time this tactic would have worked in the past. Especially coming on the back of the kind or season Maloney had last term. But this time the vast majority of fans including myself are behind the board on this one. Not to mention that while obviously we don't want to loose such a big talent as Maloney we have McGeady so it's not like we are * if he does leave.

If the papers are correct then you're right. Where's the loyalty? I thought better of Maloney but only time will tell. And as far as the Player of the Year awards, the only way he'd be justified in counting on those is if he were playing that well this year, but he's not. He hasn't got a single goal this year and is beign outplayed by McGeady. He'd better at least get back to being his old self year before he tries to negotiate for better wages.

Loyalty is a rare thing these days in football and to be fair it cuts both ways. Plenty of times it is the club ditching a player who has been loyal.
But in this instance the other thing that really bugs me about Maloney is how the club stood by him after having such a bad injury and now this season his performances for the most part have been a pale shadow of last season. As I said above I am behind the board totally on this one.

Like you and I, Maloney has the right to choose where he wants to work. Tesco won't miss last years employee of the year, Celtic will still be Celtic without Maloney.

Better players have left and we still carry on, I said this about petrov and would insist that there is not one player at Parkhead who should get away with trying to hold us to ransom. We have some fine talent at the club just now but the minute one of them start trying it on then call their bluff sharpish. I'm bored stiff with this Maloney business if he wants to stay then get the deal done and give him a pen, if not get rid ASAP........... WE ARE BIGGER THAN ANY PLAYER

Im behind the board on this one, Maloney's quick to forget who stuck by him when he had a bad injury and that his performances this year have been nothing to write home about. But it seems to me that he does want to leave so * off then.

Martin hasn't done nothing wrong, he brought Petrov who wanted to leave anyway. Sutton and Agathe are no longer celtic players and he needed to bulk the side till january so has got players on short term deals who he knows what he'll get from and neither of them were playing for anyone else.

in terms of Maloney and Balde, it was always going to be the case that O'Neill would get linked with all the celtic players from time to time due to him having so much success here, but i haven't seen any quotes to suggest he was interested in either Maloney or Balde, its just the papers putting 2 and 2 together.

I can't see him going for Balde as he has better centre backs in Mellberg and Laursen, and Maloney was always going to be linked to Villa if he wants out. Theres probably no interest from villa what so ever, but the papers are being believed.

MON should sack his scouts, he seems to have no use for them
