The crowd at a Republic of Ireland vs Scotland game would show us up for what a bigoted wee country we are.

Or possibly its because England realise its a meaningless competition that will do nothing but add extra fixtures to an already congested calender. :50:

I love how some of you Scots follow your team no matter who is playing but like i said i was born in the North Of Ireland and support the Republic Of Ireland so i kind of understand why some of you wont support them. If Ireland somehow dont reach the Final then i will be routing for Wales eventhough i would love to see the celts in "Northern Ireland" do well and also the one's from scotland

I don't see why people have a problem with Scottish people supporting Ireland. It makes me proud.

Same here. This thing of assuming that because you're born in a particular physical location you "ought" to support a particular team - it's just eyewash as far as I'm concerned. I actually have more admiration for people who support a different country from the one they were born in. It means they've taken a real decision, for a real reason - rather than just robotically filing themselves by postcode. :50:

I wouldnt hold it against anyone living in Glasgow or greater Scotland for that matter who supported Ireland, seen as there are very large Irish communities in Scotland. If my Mother & Father came from Ireland and I was borned in Glasgow, support Ireland every time as I would have no Scottish blood in me but of course Id have a soft spot for the non hun element of Scotland alright.

I was born in Scotland but have always followed Ireland, go to the odd match but I'm just not as interested in international football so although I'd want the Republic to win I won't really be bothered if they don't.
