sutton wan a premiership playing along side alan shearer and henrik scored a fair few goals. As isaid earlier all strikers have dips in form but reached a high at blackburn . . . . where was murphys high . . . . waterford united

Henrik was a young man at feynoord and served his time learning his trade, his scoring record wasnt the best but he was playing very well and brought others into play. Murphy is older and doesnt bring others into play or work hard or do anything for that matter

the big worry about Murphy is he seems to really lack any heart or desire in his play.
He is very poor technically aswell but his attitude seems all wrong on the field doesnt move hardly when on the park and is easily stripped of the ball.
No fight No Heart No good!

Bad * craic all round. :38:

The guy has barely played a handful of games, over and out from me on this one, some shocking comments.

I'm not going to write Murphy off.

Neil Lennon obviously has seen something in him during training, as he's starting ahead of a proven SPL goal-scorer, Anthony Stokes. I turst Lennon's judgement but I will say that early signs haven't been overly encouraging performance wise from Murphy.

He's not been half as bad as some people have made out though and the fact he's already been labelled a dud and some people on here would transfer list him tomorrow if they could, is beyond belief. We do need to see an improvement in his performances though.

I stuck by the likes of Donati, Sno, Gravesen and other players who when signed seemed decent prospects but didnt really work out. These guys had previously shown good form in their careers and had talent that just wasnt properly utilised. As a follower of English football, I can whole-heartedly say Murphy is different. He has always been poor, at Championship or Premiership level and it says a lot that he scored a fair few of his goals playing off the left wing. I personally feel he just isn't up to scratch.

Has made a fair few appearances and has never at any point in his career had any talent and has continued that form, if he was a good player previously and was in a slump i would back him all the way to get his confidence up but he never has shown enough class to be wearing the hoops, he had 1 decent season with waterford united who are a far cry from celtic standard and had never showed at any point the whole time he was at sunderland that he maybe had potential, no control, no threat in the air (for a man his size), no control at his feet, turns slower than a pensioner with a hip replacement, runs slower than a pension
with a hip replacement and a broken leg. Sammy isnt the best yet murphy wouldnt have have had the pace or touch to score sammys 1st goal or create the penalty he won, yet at the same time he cant do the ugly donkey work and win the headers

Agree mate. Some of the comments about Murphy are disgraceful. Ok maybe buying Murphy was a mistake and he is not that good of a player, but at the end of the day he is a Celtic player. We should be getting behind him and giving him support. Some people think their quite clever bashing Murphy all over the place but have yee really given him a fair chance. And for those who say he is only a pub player and they could do better than him, have yee ever played in the premiership or played international football. Some pub player he is:rolleyes:

but you said yourself he is not a good player, we have to say things how they are not say hes no good then blow smoke out of his *, he got a lucky break with sunderland as he was young at the time and that lead to a few call ups to the international SQUAD (never a 1st choice starter) as sunderland are a fairly big team, but the truth is he was a sunderland reject the whole time he was there who never contributed to club or country ever, like he has no talent at all. And yes i have given him a fair chance, i have saw him start 4 games and he has been woeful, strikers have their off days but still try, he doesnt even try and when he does hes too slow to do anything. Thi is on top of watching him play at sunderland and he is awful. He is not good enough to be at this club simple as. People make comments like what about sutton he was bad at chelsea before celtic signed him, but sutton won a premiership startin along side alan shearer so we knew he had it in his locker and deserver our support, murphy is coming 28 and he has only ever had 1 decent season . . . at waterford united

I think the real question should be whether he is ahead of Stokes in his plans. I can deal with him being fourth choice, but ahead of Stokes? * that!

He'd better not be. Stokes and Hooper have proven how good they are with their goalscoring records. Sammy proved his class at the weekend. Murphy can't run, he can't shoot, he can't tackle, he can't find team mates. All he can do is aimlessly head the ball when it gets pumped down to him. And he isn't always very good at that.

I thought Murphy was decent when he signed. Winning just about everything in the air but recently he's been late in jumping if jumping at all.

I will give him the benifit of doubt, as he's not had much game time. I think we should at least give him the chance to prove us all wrong.
We have a good choice of strikers(when injury free) at the moment, I think Murphy understands he's far down the pecking order at Celtic & when he gets his chance should try to prove a point.
If not, I don't think lenny will just let him pick up his wage for longer than is necessary.

Ras is quality. The sort of poacher we really need, can always be relied upon to be in the right position in the box. Surely better than Austin.

pretty sure he was signed as a squad player not first team if everyone`s fit and playing well, dont think he`s as bad as people are making out really
