I was so glad murphy was injured for the old firm as i was nervous he was going to be started against the huns after he started in recent games despite playing woeful. In all honesty im still confused with why so much money was wasted on him when he really is crap like he would be just ok in your local pub team or something while working full time as a bin man or something. Im just wondering why he was starting so many games lately?? ( I know hooper is injured but he started before sammy who may not be the best is still better than him, also started murphy before stokes who may not be the best either was still the second top scorer behind hooper)

Lennon obviously sees something in him.

I fear for us with Lennon at the helm.

I know hes up there 2 b a ball winner and platform to bring others into the team, not in the team for his non existant skill but he doesnt even win the headers or hold the ball up, its like the 2 positive ends of magnets meeting (murphy and the ball) the ball just runs away from him like always

FFS whats with the negativity? Cracking win yesterday, Lennon spot on tactically. Inspired team selection. If he chooses to play Murphy then its for a reason. Yeah personally id play Stokes and Hooper, but how about supporting the team no matter who steps out on the park.

Maybe with Hooper out, Stokes misfiring and Samaras woefully short of confidence he was seen as the only viable alternative? Nah?

great result indeed but its not negativity there hasnt been 1 bad word said about the manager or the rest of the team (from myself anyway) the question is wheither or not he is in our managers first choice team like he has been playing a lot lately, nobody mentioned not supporting the team on the park id like to think we are all supporters hence asking questions and discussing our favourite club like a forum is for. sammy had a rare stormer yesterday but it is scarey to think murphy was likely to start if he wasnt injured, he wouldnt have been capable of doing what sammy did yesterday e.g outsprinting a pensioner, fat person and a rapist and running with the ball beatin a man and then getting fouled by a fat person, the only thing he could have done was kick the penalty

Agree when he plays its for a reason but the reason is unknown to all known civilisation as he brings nothing hes not doing whatever it is hes in there for. Im negative about a player who shouldnt be at the club and i support the team no matter what but when i pay a lot of money as a student to follow the hoops all season a donkey like that should not be on display as he doesnt inspire at all, you can support the team whole heartedly when a player like that is on display but at the same time do you not think to yourself hold on why is he on?

    * me, the guy can't even be injured in peace.

This guy was wrote off as a nobody before he'd kicked a ball and will never be given a chance by certain sections of the support.

He's a decent target man that will give us options when we need a goal and have to go long, for the record, I doubt very much he would've started yesterday if fit.

He is not decent. Not being cynical or anything. I am one of the most optimistic fans you'll find, often to the point of believing my team is better than they are. As a fellow Irishman I wanted Murphy to do well, but he's awful. 14 goals in 110 games for Sunderland, and yet he's a 'decent target man.' Admit it when a player is gash, which he is. He's still a faint dampener on my mood, knowing that he's still in Lenny's plans.

with good reason after his performances at sunderland, its not as if he was saw as a good prospect or is young with potential to improve, hes 27 and already has no pace, he aint goina get better

hes been tried mate and it doesnt work, he wins headers occasionally but with no direction, wen its played to his feel he looses it too, he has had a good half dozen games to at least show potential like i know a lot of strikers go through dry patches but still contribute to th team if you know what i mean but he doesnt even track back or put in the long yards in

How many goals did Sutton score for Chelsea? How many did Henrik score for Feyenoord?

Now before you spit your kwenchy cup out, I'm not suggesting for a minute he is anywhere near on the same planet as those guys, I'm saying signing for a new club can give you a new start and freshness in your game, but what chance did the guy have when he was dismissed as a * before the ink was dry on his contract?

good man im an irish man 2 we will support any celt but hes tried and tested, cillian sheridan is ahead of him in the irish panal and he was let fo ror a couple of hundred thousand yet we spent over a million on murphy so we are down on talent and money

Of course he's not in Lenny's starting 11, Lenny has shown this a few times when all our strikers have been fit. He tends to go for Hooper and Stokes but has hardly had a chance to do so or get the forming a good partnership, which is a real shame.

I do worry that he's ahead of Samaras but after Sammys' performance yesterday hopefully that's changed

well i think he can do much better but i like more stokes or even samaras if he can regain his confidence he can be crucial due to hooper's injury.

Lennon likes him but he will see that the game against the huns that there is no place needed for him only on the bench. I hope he can see that he has only scored 2 goals that are penalty's.
