Old Firm is totally different to a normal game, we always up our game, in saying that so do they...might get a spot of luck. We will see what happens on the day - I still have confidence in us though

    Hail Hail :shamrock:

im still looking forward to it always, i would take a draw now though.
Its all well and good having faith, and belief in the team etc but must admit its tough having faith in that current sqaud, our track record in high pressure games with this lot aint exactly brilliant, but you never know.

    We shall live in hope

This thread should be looked at the night before the game when folk are saying "We're gonna * them" etc.

We won't * them but we'll struggle to beat them.

I base that on the fact we will be up against a wall of 10 blue jerseys that will eventually win the ball than skelp it forward and our defence will be posted missing.

An experience coach would not approach the game this way which we possibly can't anyway without Hooper. If Samaras is still there, I'd use him up top on his own and hope for the draw.

This thread should be looked at after the game, after we have pumped them - take a draw, no way!!! Full faith in my team :celt_2:

And in old firm played at ibrox in the first week of january.

Lets see, starting with a 2-0 win in 1921.

Then into the war years, a 3-2 win in 1941 and a 1-0 win 1945.

Enough of the kiddie on war years, now for the next victory in that first week in january.

    1983 a 2-1 win followed by another 2-1 win on Jan 1st 1985.

Now we could keep the war years victories although that would throw up an 8-1 defeat in 1943.
So maybe best if we ditch the the 1940 - 1945 period.

2 wins in 90 years hardly shows up the old firm game played in the first week of january as a totally different game.
    Not for us anyway.

If this Celtic team win at ibrox on Jan 2nd it will put them up there along with the greatest teams to have ever worn the hoops.

Not a fan but we've seen him do the job pretty well for Greece in backs to the wall games. I'd go with him and obviously have some sort of a plan B.

That's if we don't sign a few player on the 1st of January which we should.

To make matters worse, do you know who the referee is?

Old Firm games are impossible to predict, but if anything when Celtic go into one playing better than Rangers I seem to have memories of numerous slip ups.

I wont be to worried before the game begins, however I always look for the referee's reaction in the opening minutes to fouls by Rangers players. If he just lets them go, as often happens then I know we're in for possibly a hard time.

Does anyone know the stats for New Year games at Ibrox, for the SPL or earlier even.

big maj does well for sweden and he's pish for us. i'm not going to be a happy clapper for sammy while ignoring his lengthy resume of incendiary horse manure performances for us. no way he can play against the huns

Alot of over exaggerations in here, Killie have been doing really well this year although we should never lose at Parkhead to anyone in the SPL ever.

also Gers are not that big a deal neither, will be a tight affair again
