so not only was there heavy handed policing, we also have the custodians of our streets lying to cover themselves?

We've seen the footage plod, show us your footage of aggressiveness and confrontation if it happened then.

Absolutely gobsmacked with the pictures and videos of Strathclyde Police's illegal gathering. Why spend thousands of pounds on creating tension and conflict, whereas, had they been elsewhere 'protecting the community', I'm pretty sure there would've been nothing to report on the GB. Even the Mrs said it was ridiculous.Everyone should send a letter to the Police Complaints Commission, although most of the heavy-handedness is down to our Wee Free Government.:54:

Their goal was for it to kick off. Pigs wanted a riot.

the GB should organise another corteo and as much fans of the club as possible should march. if thousands turned up we would see how hard the fascist * are then.

You mean Millwall and West Ham whose fans are glad the Police are at their games so they can pump out their chests.

Millwall and London teams don't get touched by the Police. It's laughable how they carry on.

Don't know what will happen in the long run when things like this are happening so often.

Would maybe be able to continue if there were more significant ultra groups in the country to help support the whole football culture - like the way a while back every German Ultra Group marched together - but in Scotland the Green Brigade are on their own. And the club are giving them zero support to make things worse.

I remember thinking after the last corteo they did that the next time they did it there would be alot more opposition to it and the cops would be alot more prepared. Bottom line is if they want to do this they will have to actually say weeks in advance otherwise the cops can say its not a legal protest.

Or else they are going to need alot more fans to turn up, pretty much just the green brigade and section members there today. If another thousand Celtic fans show up its a different story, the police just would want the thing over with and the fans in the stadium.

Just hope they will carry on next season, but i must say it looks increasingly unlikely.

I am forced to wonder if the Blue Order or the Union Bears are subjected to this level of over policing?

I've been at hundreds of football matches, big and small, and I have never seen a police presence like that before.

    I'm not picky.
I just know that looking at that video it's not indifferent to what we saw in the 80's and 90's (and probably even now in some instances) with fans of teams like Millwall, West Ham, Chelsea etc. The main difference being, though, is that the GB weren't looking for trouble. It was a planned trouble-free march, but the police obviously had other ideas.

15-20 police wagons; about 200 cops; a police helicopter; mounted police. All of that for a wee group of about 200 football fans doing nothing but trying to get to a football match?!

What happened today was a complete farce and if I were a cop I'd be *' embarrassed looking at that.

The fact that even Angela Haggerty is sticking up for the GB speaks volumes.

Aye - this REALLY looks like the police were facilitating a safe and orderly procession

This does seem like a ludicrous waste of money and resources.

I have a couple of questions though that I couldn't find an answer to reading through this thread:

Am I right in saying that the GB didn't have permission and that is what the police is using to justify their presence? If so, how easy would it have been for them to get permission?

Were they marching on the roads on the way to the ground?

The pictures look mad but it is pretty hard to understand what this was all about

They congregated around the corner at the Chrystal Bell pub. Literally 200 yards from where they were "kettled" so they've not really had a chance to march on the roads.

However I think getting bogged down in the why's and how's just threatens to muddy the real issue of over zealous political policing.

    Yip...

AFAIK, Celtic fans have been taking that route to games for decades.
