Celtic Football Club Statement

By: Newsroom Staff on 28 Apr, 2011 16:14
IN response to media speculation regarding the Green Brigade at Celtic Park, the Club today issued the following statement.

“Celtic Football Club was closely involved in the formation of the Green Brigade section within the stadium. Whilst it is widely accepted that the Green Brigade has shown that their members can bring a good atmosphere to the stadium and have demonstrated their ability to positively support the team, the behaviour of fans within the stadium must comply with the General Safety Certificate granted by Glasgow City Council.

"As part of the annual renewal process for the granting of the General Safety Certificate for Celtic Park, a number of safety concerns have been raised by Glasgow City Council Safety Team for Sports Grounds regarding spectator behaviour in the section of the ground occupied by the ‘Green Brigade’. These relate to issues such as overcrowding, persistent standing and, in particular, the lateral movement of spectators.

"We are in regular dialogue with the Green Brigade, the group understand the issues and are presently dealing with the matter.

"Clearly, spectator safety is of paramount importance and Celtic Football Club is trying to address the concerns that have been raised in partnership with the spectators involved and Strathclyde Police. We very much hope that the current problems raised by the Safety Team can be resolved and allow the presence of the ‘Green Brigade’ at Celtic Park to continue next season.”

The council can take their safety team and them it :38:

7500 of us can stand at ipox and other stadiums with no bother. Police just walk up and down the isles making sure no-one is in the isle. Different matter if it's the full stadium of course.

Seems they'll be getting renewals though. Knew the stuff in the media was a pile of * :84:

should take a look at the german clubs who have removable seats for league games to provide standing areas and for euro games the seats are put back.

The lads in the full 111 section have a meeting later on with Celtic to find out whats happning, so should find out what the script is later on tonight

But sickening if they bhoys in the section don't get renewals and Celtic have the cheek to use their displays to promote season tickets

wonder where the council safety team was in the 70's early 80's when you only had the odd crush barrier (aptly named if you ever got crushed against one at a big game) to stop people pushing forward at a goal.

it is NOT a meeting with Celtic. The meeting tonight is between the Green Brigade and strictly people who sit in the GB section.

I sit in the gb section and the rumours im hearing is that celtic are going to try and move the people in that section to other seats around the ground. Don't think i will renew if thats the case. :38::38:

Would be devastated if they spread us out the stadium, would not be the same at all.

It is a meeting with Celtic tonight.

If the club don't keep the section going then they have shot themselves in the foot big time. The timing of this statement is absolutely ridiculous, at a time where we all need to unite as one the issue of the Green Brigade will no doubt divide the support a bit again, at least online anyway.

Seen a couple of videos our support looked incredible!!

Do the huns just look at the green brigade and think "We'll need tae try that"

Two sticks copy some of their ideas, there little flags are identicle to green brigade as in the green on the outside, big white bit in the middle and a thin strip of orange .. Theres are exactly the same but to suit their own colours.

http://willievass.photoshelter.com/...h-Cup-Final/G0000xtrEoHjzUwU/I0000wv2vPg7j6eY

Seen them do that thing as well that the green brigade do where the section splits up in half and one half points to the other and shouts one line and so on...

Even saw them try and give the huddle a go. Dunno what they're going to call it? The poznan :56::56:??

I sit quite close to these guys and gals and they are incredible .the noise they create is quite amazing without them celtic park would be like a morgue , however some republican chants and songs have no place at football . if we are to take the moral high ground over the huns then we must get our own house in order :shamrock:

After the 3-0 game in February, the huns were pretty much like,"Right,we need a Green Brigade, and we need an atmosphere"
They have since then stole chants and ideas from our support. They are beyond pathetic. And the B.O are still a laughing stock.

Let's keep the singing debate out of here. PLenty of them already.

But to my point/question. What kind of display do oyu think we will get treated to on the last day of the season? Could the title be won already? Or will it be on the last day?
It's going to be a great couple of last games at Paradise.
