I wish i could be as confident as you , I honestly do. we are the biggest spending team in Scotland and in that illustration and in my honest opinion Rangers squad is worth more. I do wonder if PL does realise this because I sometimes think he is kidding himself on. Until he gets rid of this " why buy 1 quality player when you can get 2 for the same price" attitude we will suffer continuously. I would nt dismiss Rankers so easily either, as much as we dont like them you have to admit they are ahead of us by quite a bit (IMO) on the park. They have a work ethic and belief that we aint got . A settled formation and you can be rest assured when sally takes over Watty will be close at hand to keep him right. unlike our manager who because of his ego refused help from a mentor/father figure. I wonder if Neil would welcome some one now to talk to and take advice. I really want Neil to succeed but as I have said many times he should never have been appointed in the first place, his inexperience is showing and alarm bells are starting to ring. If it goes pear shape I expect Neil JR and PL to head out the door, with all that upheavel, less money again and an owner who has little ambition I only see more bleak times ahead. Sorry for being so negative but I think JR and PL have made another * of it , continually making bad appointments for the most important Job in our beloved club. :54:

The Huns first team cost far more than ours did to asssemble hence why they keep winning things but are so much in debt.

I think the myth that Rangers are poorer than us has been around for a while but is not true. The reason people think that is because we had tended to play more ball players and wingers but that makes us have more flair and prettier on the eye but there is a difference between that and being a good team. Fans tend to be drawn to and dazzled by fancy footwork too much. Football is a lot more than that.

I think there is no doubt that we were the better side until 3 in a row when it came neck and neck and we did very well to win that. For at least the last 3 seasons they have been formidable if not nice on the eye. They have done well on average in Europe in this period too. I personally think they are incredibly hard to break down, more so than most Rangers teams I have seen over the decades. That is a * of a solid foundation.

The other thing is experience. We have never been so low on experienced players. Whatever their technical level, the loss of Artur, Caldwell, Mick, Robson, Hartley, Naka, Aidan, JVOH and Skippy have robbed us of a mountain of experience, including at a very high level (CL, international) as well as character and leadership skills. Right now is one of the worst cases of men v boys in terms of Rangers and us. Other than Maj we are an awful young side now, full of players who are still years away from their peak. They are IMO a good standard of player but they are maybe a season or 2 short of the experience to have the winner mentality.

Gunt, I think it's fair to say that Samaras, Loovens, Brown and Maloney are experienced enough with the SPL in order to know what it takes to win it.

I think our only experience among our decent first 11 players now is only Maloney and Brown (and Maj). However, Maloney and Brown are suffering very stop-start careers with us and that lessens their influence. Down the spine we are light on experience. Less said about Loovens and Sammy the better. What I mean is players of an acceptable standard who also have a good level of experience at multiple levels. Our first 11 is light years behind Rangers in terms of experienced battle hardened players. If we do sign a CH and maybe a CF in the window I really hope we get people around 28 or whatever, players at their peak.

Peter Lawwel should go, sold our 2 best players in the summer, for a so called intelligent man doesn't seem to grasp that if we keep on downsizing on the team, the crowds drop and merchandising drops which leads to less investment on the team the following season.

Lennon has had his post 6 months, and we are only 3 points behind, with 4 of our players coming back from injury, and a young side full of internationals. In the transfer window, Lennon should also sign a few players, so why the f*ck are people so critical and pessimistic?

Because they feel it is going the exact same way as before needing other teams to us favours, the results and play in recent games has been dire or you can't say we have been playing well.

Will have to wait and see after the huns game what is going to happen, because if we don't beat them, then I think it is curtains and they will go on for 3 in a row, which would be scandalous

This i agree with but Redbaz i can see were the others are coming from aswell

Quote ,Because they feel it is going the exact same way as before needing other teams to us favours,

I dont think this will happen this season ,Celtic are not at there best just now but we have seen them play good football this seson ,Now there is 3-4 players on there way back and i think this will turn in our favour having a full strength team ,but yes the rangers game is coming quick and Celtic need playing time for these players ,if they get this i see Celtic doing well.:50:

I don't think it is negativity for negativity's sake on most people's parts, we are just trying to rationalize in an objective manner what we are doing right, and what we are doing wrong. Remember when this thread was started, it was right after a whole series of dissapointing and alarming results, so I sympathise with the OP, because I felt exactly the same myself, and would probably have started a similar thread myself if TrueTim67 hadn't. However a week is a long time in football, and recent results have swung the pendulum back to us again, and like I said to Hammer I wasn't too concerned about our game being postponed again, because it forced Rangers to play their game in hand, and they dropped two points. Of course if they had won it would have painted an entirely different complexion again, so it is swings and roundabouts. This is turning out to be a funny old league campaign and anything could happen. Also keep a watchful eye on the fast improving Heart's team. They are beginning to look a formidable unit to me.

Yep totally agree. There is a strong similarity IMO. We were leaky in the crunch games then. Basically the money Tommy invested from CM forward in top players was not repeated at the back. I loved his side but he was guilty of spending all the money on attackers. To me Tommy was one of the greatest Celts ever but he was too close to the club, too consumed by the myths of how we should play etc. I personally think there is a big advantage in avoiding managers who live and breath Celtic in favour of more detached people.
