Remember the last time someone dived and got a penalty in the CL - Amoroso of Juve?

Well, when he came to Celtic Park he got a doing from us all in the form of boo's for 90 minutes or length he was on for.

I think we should do the same to Giggs! Cheating scumbag! Even Man U fans are saying it wasn't a penalty.

Can't really blame the ref for giving the penalty as it seems any form of contact inside the box now no matter how much contact is rewarded with a penalty.overall i think the ref had a good game and was wise to Rooney's diving around the area...

I am sorry. I have to defend Giggy here. He has a great record of fair play. if you really look at his past records, he never has a red card in his entire career.

Because he isnt a dirty player doesnt mean he can't cheat. That penalty kick last nite was a joke. If I made as much contact as that on Giggs on the street or in a night club do you think he would have gone down so easilly then? I think not!

Giggs 'dived' claims Celtic keeper Boru

Celtic's Polish keeper Artur Boruc claims Ryan Giggs dived to earn Manchester United
a pivotal penalty in Wednesday's Champions League Group F opener.
Boruc appeared to collide accidentally with the United and Wales
winger in the box and when Giggs hit the ground after the lightest
of touches referee Lubos Michel pointed to the spot.
"For me it was never a penalty, so I was angry," Boruc said.
"I tried not to touch him, and he just dived. It looked like he
    dived," the 26-year-old added.
"I am upset, and so are my team-mates. We played well, but it
    was not enough."
Boruc believes that incident - which saw Giggs hobble off
    injured - changed the match.
Louis Saha scored from the spot to level the game and then made
    it 2-1 soon afterwards.
Shunsuke Nakamura equalised with a free-kick just before the
break - but just two minutes after the restart, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
pounced after more good work from the Frenchman to secure the 3-2
    victory.
"It was really a big thing in the match," Boruc said.
"We were playing well and we had scored a goal at that time.
After the penalty we were afraid about what was going to happen."
Celtic captain Neil Lennon reckoned Michel, the Slovakian
referee who was involved in the Scottish giant's controversial UEFA
Cup final defeat to Porto in Seville in 2003, did not come out of
    the incident completely blameless either.
"From what I have heard it was very debatable," said Lennon.
"From where I was the contact was minimal. But Mr Michel is a
good old friend of ours, so we didn't expect many favours off him.
"We met him in Barcelona as well, so we weren't holding out for
anything off him. From our point of view he couldn't wait to give
    it.
"I went and had a word and said to give it you have to be 100
percent sure - but he said `I am'. It is inconclusive from the TV."
Lennon's teammate, midfielder Thomas Gravesen, said he was to
blame for his team leaving Old Trafford with nothing to show after
    an entertaining encounter.
The 30-year-old Dane lost possession to Michael Carrick in the
lead up to Saha's second goal and then just after the restart
Gravesen lost the ball to Paul Scholes allowing Solskjaer to slam
    home the winner.
The former Real Madrid and Everton player said: "I think it's
easy to see why we lost - because of my mistakes.
"I can only hold my hands up and say I'm the player who cost us
    the game.
"For me personally, this is a massive disappointment. I made two
massive mistakes and that made it very difficult for my team."
"No one said anything to me in the dressing room - they didn't
    need to."

He did not dive, use your heads.. Hes missing the next 4 United games with a hamstring injury due to the fall. It was NOT a penalty last night but I really do believe Giggs went down due to his hamstring, would he really fake a hamstring injury and miss 3 weeks of the season?

Yeah he dived, but that is part of european football. He didn't exactly make a drama of it unlike some players. It was a poor decision by the ref, simple as. It's already been said, if one of our boys had done it.. you wouldn't be complaining.

I agree with you Giggs has a good record and is flat out a player I have always admired and loved watching. But facts are facts that was a dive and there is no 2 ways about it. The ref had a good game last night to be fair but he got that one way wrong no question.

It wasn't a dive, nor was it a penalty. Giggs had the ball, fell and jurt himself, he wasn't looking for it or pressuring the referee etc, he gave the penalty as soon as Giggs hit the deck...can't blame Giggs for that.

I knew Man Utd would get at least 1 penalty in that match when I heard who the referee was going to be

Bar the penalty I didn't think the referee done too badly. Alot of the 50/50 decisions he gave to Celtic. Too bad the stand out decision was the one that changed the game for us.

Load of crap man. Yeah if the ref had given a penalty to a Celtic player like that the fans wouldn't have complained, because we all know referees make mistakes and sometimes they benefit you and sometimes they hurt you like it did last night. But to say that diving "part of the game" is crap. If players start gouging each other's eyes out and getting away with it would you say that's part of the game? Diving is dishonest, unsportsmanlike, and cheap. And so is any player who does it to gain an advantage.

Agreed! But the pen was a stinker of a desiscion! Lets hope this Ref who happens to be Lubo's cousin doesn't ref another Celtic game in his life.

As for the dive, I think it was a dive, just coz he got injured doesn't mean that he didn't dive. Lost some respect for Giggs now though.
