I try to avoid confrontation, mainly cos im 5 foot 7 and weigh 9.5 stone so im not exactly the strongest guy about:56:

Obviously in self-defence people will react but i'd try to avoid it as long as possible.

Easiest way out of confrontations like that (for me at least) is to make him look like an eejit

Just try to outwit him... Won't be hard doing it to a drunken ned but usually * alike him would back off if confused

i hate when ppl are looking for a fight during a nightout or whatever. Over any wee thing like, which sets them off. Does my head in.

Brilliant post! So relevant to my experience out for my mates birthday in a well known club in Glasgow city centre last night. Basically there was 8 of us and we were all having a class time getting the shots in and doubles in and all of a sudden some ned girl comes over and is like " youse fenians? " and started singing rebel songs even some of my more radical mates haven`t even heard! One in my group was a Rangers fan so whilst we all bammed him up for a bit eventually we moved away from her as she was getting a bit too wrecked! I`m a huge fan of everything to do with Celtic but I`m not one to go up to folk and say something like that as I don`t like to rub my views in strangers faces, don`t know what anyone elses thoughts or if anyone else has had similar situations on a night out? As for the rest of the night there was unusually quite a few fights outwith this one ned girl and her mates but for having such a large group of 20-something guys noone had a problem with us even though we were an easy target being drunk and dancing etc. None of my mates are ones to go out on a night looking for trouble but at the same time if it arises then they have no problem taking it outside , whereas personally I try and calm the situation down, usually because I`m the least intoxicated! Bit of a long read but had to get that of my chest haha

funny think was, the black guys was actually like fifty something, and went on the radio a few days later to apologize :56:

There's more to that video than meets the eye, there's interviews with the old guy where he's clearly delusional and mentally ill, and he admits to telling the black guy to shine his shoes. Meanwhile there's an interview with the black guy where he seems like an absolute gent but admits to being drunk and letting the situation get out of hand.

The thing that annoys me about potential violence is the amount of people... sorry cowards that carry blades.
You never know who's got one and so especially in the city center, you've got to be super careful about even things like who you look in the eye.

Exactly. These folk really are nothing more than cowards. Carrying knifes is the lowest of the low, its obvious if they could handle themselves they wouldn't even think of carrying one. Plus, most of them only start if they are in a group of 7 plus.

The real big men are the men who turn on their heels and walk away and I applaud anyone who does so. However there is only so much pish one man can take and I have been known to plow in just when that happens, no proud of it but!
