Oasis never bettered the debut albums of any of the * bands whose music they continually ripped off. :56:

Strangely, I find with a lot of bands/artists I like, that their first album or first couple of albums aren't outstanding, and they really hit their stride with the 3rd or 4th.

Stone Roses the obvious one. * Pistols of course...

Jeff Buckley although sadly I'm sure he would've gone on to better things and my two favourite REM albums are the first 2 and in particular the first 1 Murmur...

I would probably say the Ramones as well, at least the first is my favourite...

Arctic Monkeys? Favourite Worst Nightmare outclasses the debut!

    The Killers
Kings Of Leon (though Because Of The Times is close)
    The Strokes
    Kanye West
    Interpol
    Bloc Party
    Rage Against The Machine

Agree with all these, especially Jeff Buckley's 'Grace' - simply superb. Tragic loss & I've never been able to bring myself to listen to any of the subsequent posthumous releases.

    Here's a few for consideration:

    Primus 'Frizzle Fry'
    Sugar 'Copper Blue'
    Pearl Jam 'Ten'
Dead Kennedys 'Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables'

The Killers springs to mind but I still liked their 2nd album.

    Would agree on Stone Roses

With Oasis though, Morning Glory is a much better album than Definitely Maybe

Do you realise that 'Final Straw' wasn't actually Snow Patrols' debut album?
