Everyone said we should sign Wallace, he was woeful. Everyone said we should sign Hutton, he was woeful. Everyone said we should sign McFadden, he was woeful.

FFS a fairly large chunk of forum members wanted Levein as manager :87:

I don't really get why European teams like to get international players all over their leagues... I mean 4 or 5 per team is enough but as Inter which won Champions with 11 non-italians.... how can an Italian be proud of that?

I was thinking the same, how does Scotland ever wants to get again to a WC with your teams filled with non-Scots? Maybe the WC is not important yo you.... or who knows!!!

In Mexico we want no more than 3 foreigners per team and lots of chances for U20 mexican players... for us the WC is everything... clubs are second priority.... we are so different....

If we can manage to provide some Scottish talent then that's a bonus. As long we have decent quality players giving it 100% for the cause, then that's all we can ask for - regardless of their nationality.

In all seriousness, we should never have sold Barry Robson who has all the effort and dig of Brown but channels it in the right direction.

I also personally think we have a superstar on our hands in James Forrest, so maybe it isn't all bad.

I agree about Forrest, he clearly has massive potential. Really hope he can keep on improving and become the player he could be.

I really hope the Celtic fans don't go over the top too soon about James Forrest. He's shown signs of potential so far but let's not put too much expectation on his shoulders. At this moment in time I would say Forrest looks no better than Maloney and McGeady did when they first broke into the team.

I hope Forrest will develop to the point where he is a better player than Maloney or McGeady but it's still very early days and only time will tell. I expect nothing of Forrest at the moment and am just taking every good performance he has as a nice little bonus.

I've never liked Maloney so instantly I think he is better than him. He comes with the exact same weight of promise from our youth academy that Aiden did from people within Parkhead. He has been the best player in every age group from 15's onwards. He already looks more direct, with a better cross and can score goals.

We definitely shouldn't be getting carried away but early signs are he will be a top, top player for us.

Like another poster wrote"maybe I'm older than some", likewise myself.

    * football, I remember when Scotland bred the best joiners, plasterers, ship builders, engineers, bricklayers, slaters, nurses, doctors, teachers of all of the above.
    What happened?

I know it's early days but for me forrest is already the real deal, making a telling contribution to the first team, he is oozing confidence because he knows how highly lenny rates him, he's got pace, a great shot and his delivery into the box is first class, of course it could all go *'s up but i am really looking forward to watching him this season, hopefully he will retain a starting place in the first team...............:shamrock:

Second reply to this and the 2 scotland games which have just taken place did nothing but back up my original thoughts and feelings, with one notable addendum. We actually have too many! Of the Scots playing full internationals in the past few days, please take Brown, anywhere and leave him there! Top form Maloney, no problem. Top form Forest, no problem, although well worth noting that time should be afforded here! But those two weren't playing! Scotland players for Celtic? Ha!

And it goes back to what?
In the days of Kenny,Danny,Paul, and before them Jinky,Bertie,Billy and so on playing out in the street or playing heidy fitba in the back close, and when the rain went off playing with the midden as the goal, and low and be hold your mammy calling your name as a jam piece came flying oot the windae for your lunch, and your mammy calling you to go for your dinner and you hiding, knowing you'll get a hiding when you get home, but we were down 2 goals, get into them.
To see the amount of world class footballers and boxers who came out of that period of time in Scotland tells me that hunger bred champions.
    Just my opinion.

After being at the game last night and watching them play, I would rather not have more Scots in my team. Except James Morrison :50: Sign him up Lenny.
