Celtic's most famous number and no one up to filling it...cue big marque signing targets in January, personally think we blew any chance of signing a big name after that gutless away performance against Utrecht

I would rather it remained empty than just fill it for the sake of it. If the player Lenny wanted wasn't available the search goes on.

I'm honestly not bothered. We've got two goal-scorer in Hooper and Stokes. They are not marquee signings but we need permanent goal-scorers not quick-fix loan signings to fill that No.7 jersey.

Would have loved a new No.7, think there should have been plenty left over to purchase one. Mostly gutted we have not really strengthened the defence!

If they were after a no7 it obvious he didnt agree terms for whatever reason but the good thing thats came out of it is they never jumped in and signed someone for the * of it ,a panic buy if you like and one they might live to regret.

Its only a number. Larsson, Johnstone and Dalglish, are the only 'Stand out' players to wear the shirt in 122 years. The number doesnt make the player and vice versa.

maybe the likes of murphy, stokes and hooper (although i do like his #88) have been told that the #7 could be theirs if they do the business. Nowt like a bit of incentive in the camp to earn 'that' number!

It's a shame Samaras already had a number because he probably deserves it now being our 'big name' player from the world cup. Well, big compared to Hooper and Stokes anyway.

Its really not that different from any other number on the celtic jersey personally i am more concerned about how well any player does in every jersey rather than what number they are wearing.
I remember the days when we just had numbers on the shorts not the jersey to me the numbers on the back of the jersey ruin the hoops and are mostly for commercial reasons that they are there as the club make more money probably from the printing than from the sale of the shirts

Yes it's just a number, but I always felt that the number 7 shirt has always meant something to the club (they did name a restaurant after it) because of all the great players to wear it.

    Jimmy Johnstone
    Henrik Larsson
    Kenny Dalglish
    Davie Provan
    Johnny Doyle
    Scott McDonald
    Juninho
    Zurawski

Just to name a few... I'm glad we haven't just given the number to any old player. Lenny is obviously holding out to sign a player who will deserve that number.

For anyone to seriously consider giving the Celtic number seven jersey to Samaras should be ashamed of themselves, not even in a joke !!!

No number 7, No number 1, No current stand-out for captain.

Out of the 3 of those I'm only worried about the lack of a Number 1.

Give it to Alan Thompson and get him back on the books.
