did we not get offered a place in the championship a few years ago ??? i'm sure we did thought it was an odd decision at the time not to go because i thought we would be challengers for the championship therefore 1 year in the championship and promotion to EPL

Suppose if your meaning shirt sales and it would give us alot more of the spotlight. If and when Cardiff city get promoted to the Premier League will be a good day for us even though they have played in the english leagues for years and years as have swansea, they are not english.

agreed. The only thing to back Cardiff in that argument is that they have always been in the English leagues.

I've said it all along, it's not down to the clubs to vote, it's down to what Sky Sports and the rest of their main sponsors want. Take for example that the EPL is sold around the World, apart from Man Utd, Chelsea and Liverpool not many have Global fan bases like the Old Firm, therefore this is driver towards Celtic & Rangers getting involved with the EPL.

However after last years vote it will take some pursuading as far as the voters are concerned, however who the * wants to watch Wigan, Blackpool, WBA, Wolves, etc on a regular basis, certainly not their Global audience. It's okay if it's Man Utd, Man City, Liverpool, Everton, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs, Newcastle, Sunderland, Aston Villa and Birmingham, but after that there's really not a lot of interest.

Celtic & Rangers should stand firm and join on their terms, such as into the Top Tier of the EPL, not some watered down Tier Two with Southampton, Sheffield Utd, etc.

If Sky were to say after the current deal expires they would be reducing their finanical input by 50% unless the Old Firm were included, how do you think most of the larger clubs would vote, exactly, money talks !!!

Dont think we should ever join the Eng Prem. We have to much history with the Scottish league. What I would like to see is a merging of the league cups of both nations. That would make the competition far more interesting.

I would favour going to the championship and getting promoted to prove we belong there.

Thing is if we were to join the English premiership, we would need to spend 30-40 mill just to stay up and thats not even 40 mill just on player spending that includes the massive wages of like 80G a week. Although i do think that our revenue would just jump from 60-70 mill to 150 mill, ticket sales investment, sponsorship deals would just multiply by a factor of 10, bye bye to Tennents sponsoring for 2 mill a year, more like 15-20 if we were in the EPL.

My only fear if we were to join the EPL is that it could be all over in a year if we were to drop down to the championship.

IF he believes that he would be prepairing right now for it happening. With the steps backwards we're taking I don't see that as preperation is it . if we do get into the prem is it going to be then a massive fire sale to get rid of the junk we have and a massive rush to get good players in? like a poor mans man city?

we've just been put out of Europe and he comes out with this.
I, tbh am getting sick of this rearing it's ugly head atleast once a season. It's getting boring talkin' about it also, tbh.

Would love to see it happen but if there was even the slightest chance I reckon we'd start off in a lower league first, and if I'm being honest I'd rather see us play in the championship week in week out than in the SPL.

People talk about us losing our identity or whatever but look at Cardiff and Swansea. Two Welsh teams playing in England while they have a different Welsh league!

i fear there wouldnt be enough 'time' to do what you'd hope as we'd get relegated and be the next 'nottingham forrest':31:

if we joined the EPL our revenues would double over night with an extra 40m for tv revenue and 20 mil in sponsorship, however the only way i can see us joining the EPL is if the EPL as a spectable starts to weaken and lose popularity, only then will Sky and the EPL teams see the boost having the old firm would bring.

If you think Dermot Desmond has bought shares in Celtic to make money you are mistaken.

Celtic will only ever flourish when we can tap into the multimedia revenue streams English and other European nations can, end of story.

totaly agree it will give us a bridge head into the Epl as they are a welsh team the whole argument regarding non english teams regardless of cardiffs long history of playing in england it still would have set a marker

he originally bought celtic because he thought he could take celtic into the EPL, that's why there was the influx of money for MON to spend. that's why MON was brought in in the first place. after MON left, it became more apparent that the "OF" was never gonna get a seat at the grownups table and we've gone to debt neutral mode ever since (not that it's a bad thing). just how it is

would love to see celtic in the epl. being honest the spl is getting less and less atractive every year, its getting harder to attract big named players here aswell but maybe thats down to most players being money grabbing * aswell.

The idea of the league cup or something like that between the 2 wouldnt work either because were would you fit these fixtures in over the season they already say they play 2 many games already.

At the end of the day if sky sports want celtic in the epl then celtic will be in the epl.

it annoys me when people say we would fail in the epl. Not only would we get more money from comps and tv rights it gives us more leeway to suatain a bigger debt, your uniteds, chelsea and liverpool are all in big numbers but the debt is sustainable because of assets and income, a move to the epl would let celtic grow the way we should. Unfortunately because our league income is pitiful abd it holds are great club back!
