Being positive, its not that bad a thing, fact is we have a new manager and a new team, we need to win back the league,

Now we are out we can focus on that itself, We need a manager who can stay longer than a year, so first focus win the league, then next year we wont need a major overhaul and can focus more on europe,

For the last few seasons we always come back from a european game jaded and draw a game in the league which isnt good, its not what we need, im personally worried on the motherwell game, how the players will react, looking tired etc, only good thing they were also playing, we need to get a settled team and focus properly now,

Hopefully a few strikers and a CB before the window shuts and il be happy

As much as I'm totally gutted at the result and the performance, to get all concentration on domestic trophies may well be a blessing in disguise for Lennon.

The number 7 jersey may have to be put back in it's gold casket though for another year?

not really, if it was to be keane he couldnt play in europe anyway and we only make 1,5 mill for being in the groups so id imagine it shouldnt affect things to much

Im glad Celtic never got into the Champs League they would have got slaughtered in there badly but was looking forward especially after the 2-0 last week to a run in this Cup but the * hit the fan and it wasnt to be ,Blessing in Disguise only if they win the League this season.

money wise its a disaster for celtic as we needed a good run in europe to make a bit of money and now looking over the last 2 seasons we will make just over 2 million pounds and the huns will make about 20 million being in the champions league .:54:

There's no doubt it's a disappointment that we seem to keep shooting ourselves in the foot and seemingly drawing our own level of finances closer to Rangers by being even shiter than their already average team and letting them win the league and get the European money.

But Martin O'Neill won everything domestically in his first season after going out of Europe early and Gordon Strachan won the league in his first year as well as the cup, maybe it is a blessing in disguise after all, to be able to concentrate on the league and enjoy the huns getting shagged by every team in their group and come back to play after midweek games with a 17 man squad (could be 16 if Miller * off).

Let's not try and disguise it, we were hammered and based on tonights performance don't merit a place in the europa league. We can try and dress it up whichever way we like but the fact is we were utterly shambolic. Yes, there were decisions that were debatable but the fact remains we simply weren't good enough. The performance was well below par and I dont think anyone can argue that, totally inexcusable :38:

The Europa doesn't really generate all that much.

If the reduced fixture schedule allows us to win the league, it will be worth far more to us. :50:

I hate using the expression blessing in disguise but this team, especially the defence are'nt anywhere near european standard. Being able to concentrate only on the domestic scene could do lennon and his fledgling managerial team the world of good.

The one thing that i would worry about is that our club seems unable to identify a strong, commanding centre half. I had hoped that mastjarovic would be that man, but tonight i thought he looked out of his depth, though i think he will comfortably hold his own in the SPL.

Got to agree that our new team aren't ready for this level of competition.
Positives are that we now concentrate on the league, Lennon has made some good signings, plus we still have to see what our new keeper & left back will add to the team.
I expect a few more faces in before tuesday, desperately need another CB & striker.

It was always going to be a big ask this season, the club has given a rookie manager the job, so expect a few more * noses along the way, how Lenny copes with these will shape his future as our manager.

More than ever the team, players & manager need our support, lets get behind them & give Watty the send off he deserves, a trophyless final season.
    Keep the faith.

UEFA figures show we earned £1.5 million last season which is about 1/10 what the manky mob get in the champions league- so it's by no means a high-earner. Fact is we still got humped out by an average team which makes it a bitter pill to swallow

Getting the title back to Paradise was always top priority, so with no midweek European fixtures (Travel etc)... Lennon and the Bhoys can fully concentrate on that job and hopefully we'll have plenty to smile about come the end of the season.

Yes, it's disappointing that we're out of Europe but we really need to get behind the team and urge them on, like we always do. :shamrock:

C'mon, do I have to spell it out for you?

Can you remember why Rangers are in the Champions League this season? It's because they won the SPL last season.

That is why SPL succcess is worth more than a run in the Europa.

I went straight to sleep after the game. I was as angry as anyone last night but I think it may help if we can just concentrate on the league. We are not ready for any competition in Europe yet and could have got another score or two like that against us if we progressed.

The problem with turning against a manager so early is we are not giving him a decent chance to get the team playing together and gain stability.

Lennon will be judged on one thing this season, whether he wins the SPL or not. That is the main thing I am interested in and going by posts before we even played a European tie, any European run or cup win would be a bonus to many.

Let's say we change our manager in the summer and the new man gets a result like this in a qualifier. Do we put pressure on him as well? Remember, this is the start of the season, not the end.
