I know this may seem premature but I thought Kayal stood out as an obvious captain tonight. Although everyone was poor I thought he gave everything and was constantly trying to instruct players, give encouragement and motivate, and I am sure he doesnt even speak english (hence probably why he wont get it)

Did anybody else notice this. For a guy who has just came into the team it is a sign of a captain in my eyes. Otherwise the other obvious one is big Maj.

Hooiveld is currently the vice captain though.

People can sit on here and tear Scott Brown apart, limb from limb, even the Scott Brown fans like myself will admit the guy is NOT captain material. But who is going to tell me who should be the Celtic captain then?

There's no * point blaming Scott Brown when there is NOBODY ELSE in the whole Celtic squad capable or worthy of being a captain either. Scott Brown is the best option we've got just now but all that that makes him is the best of a bad lot.

When ever in doubt, blame Brown. Did you watch the game tonight?

Name me one player better than Brown.

But there lies the problem-Brown is the best option of a bad bunch. I agree with you in the sense that there is nobody in that team who is really captain material- we need to find someone willing to step up and lead the team and I can confidently say its not Brown

forrest, ledley. there's two. and why does he turn around and go chargin after the boy that wound up head butting him? absolute nutter, no composure, no way he's captain material. is that the leader we want on the pitch?

Listen mate, read back through all my posts on this site and you'll see that I'm one of the few people who defends Scott Brown. :50:

Good for you and I'm sorry mate. I then understand why you would rather the pressure of our MORON supporters was put on some other player.

Brown's been our top player this season so far without a shadow of a dout. He was in the Ref's face just as a captain should be tonight. Just the team Lennon set out wasn't good enough. Simple as that.

YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.

    No problem bud.

It's one thing to be in the ref's face and another thing to not know when to shut your mouth. Unfortunately Broony doesn't know when to shut his * trap...........fact. He got booked again tonight for mouthing at the referee and I suspect he got subbed because Neil Lennon was concerned he'd have had a go at that guy who 'put the nut on him' and get himself sent off.

Broony wasn't our worst player tonight and very rarely is our worst player, I like the guy, but he really needs to work on his attitude. He does not have the attitude of great Celtic captains like McNeill, Aitken, Lennon etc

He needs to grow up and that's coming from a fan who likes him.

    Agree mate

Kayal was the only one tonight who showed any heart or desire. In the few games that he has played he looks like the best option to replace brown, but either way brown has to be replaced.

The one thing that really * me off tonight was the Utrecht player not getting a red card for putting his head in Brown's face.
A few years ago, Brown would have probably reacted badly to that & got himself sent off, I think he is maturing, but maybe taking the pressure off him by making an older player captain, Maj, might benefit him.

Maybe you're right. Did he get booked tonight? The Head butting thing made everyone thing he got booked but perhaps never? I wasn't sure if it was another bad desicion by Lennon or what to take him off as Juarez and Kayal were worse!

Anyway, if you ever watched Roy Aitken play then you would know what skills some players lack. He was awful lol. Terrible I'm old enough to know that one anyway:icon_mrgreen:

Captain is just a word to me anyway. I really liked McManus.

Seriously mate what aspects do you like about Scott Browns game.

Apart from the fact that he cannot keep it together when faced with any sort of adversity at all, the man is imo not a good footballer at all.

Has he got the ability to see a pass? Maybe
Has he got the ability to play that pass? Not a * chance in *
Can he deliver a ball from wide positions? No
Is he goal scoring midfielder? No
Has he got good workrate and desire? Yes, but i've got that and like Scott Brown i'm not good enough to play for Celtic.

Scott Brown is growing up...........hmmmmmmm...........here you have it from the horses mouth................

Lennon admitted he subbed hothead skipper Scott Brown in the second half because he thought he was going to get himself sent off.
He said: "He was booked for nothing really, for dissent, and we couldn't afford to go down to ten men.

Scott Brown needs to grow the * up. He's the club captain now and being Celtic captain brings certain responsibilities with it. His days of charging round the park, mouthing off at opponents and winding up referees should be over. The sooner he wakes up to the responsibility he's been given the better it will be for him, Celtic and us.

That's the thing mate.......nobody knows and nobody can give an answer.

CELTIC DO NOT HAVE A CAPTAIN IN THEIR WHOLE SQUAD. It's a sad state of affairs it really is. :54:
