mine was down to my grandad, i moved to glasgow from south america when i was 4 ( my mum is scottish ) and alot of my family are filth supporters, and cause i was a catholic they would not dream of taking me to ipox, and it was my grandad who took me to a celtic game for my 5th birthday and it was green and white ever since that day......

I'm 100% American born and raised.......

However, my ancestors are Catholics from Scotland, so when I became a fan of the sport after the USA 2002 World Cup run, I needed to find a club team to support. I found a good one..

Everyone in my family supports them, brainwashed by my Granda, Da, Uncles and Cousins since i can remember, Granda telling me about the Lions and players from the Charlie Tully, Bertie Peacock era when i was about 7/8 lol

From a mixed family mum family is catholic and dad`s is protestant, however my dad doesn`t really care about football unless I`m involved. My mum is into her football, she went to the celtic games with my papa since she was a young girl. That`s where I started to follow Celtic and have done since.

Just a wee side interest in this for any future posters, What relation got u into supporting Celtic.

Was wondering this as serveral of my friends were introduced to football and celtic by there mother.

My da was pretty adamant id a be a tim! Now am older and no what the club is about im glad he was so adamant!

For me everything celtic stands for i love!
Best suppourt in the world, a cracking stadium to be proud of, but its the roots, history and story of celtic that makes it so easy to be a devout celtic fan.

I live in wales now (born in glasgow) and when i ask 'why do you suppourt united?' the general answer is 'cause were the best' - what a poor excuse of a fan base!

I also just love the general celtic feeling between wales, r.o.i and scotland, my pals are not that arsed about the spl being welsh, but if their watching scotland or celtic with me theyll shout for us! and even picked up some of the songs along the way + because they hate england too!

born to a celtic father. glad he did and i hope my kids will follow suit! my dad couldnt take me to the games of course. he just showed me the tapes over and over again. eventually i was hooked. i guess its natural for a son to emulate is fathers team.

Mark viduka was my favourite player when i was 8, cause of the national team and the way he played, and i watched as much celtic highlights and things as i could, and started getting more and more interested in the club and yer basically fell in love with the club, and have been since

i read it's history and it was enough to make me heart grow sad.

seriously, i was educated about the club from one of my m8s growing up, what it stood for and the history and have been hooked ever since

I am not religious at all but I love the fact that Celtic is an inclusive club, noone is treated any different no matter where they're from or what colour their skin is, once you're a celtic fan you're part of the family and it's a worldwide family which brings me so much pride. I love the noise and atmosphere that the fans create, there is no more impressive sight than seeing thousands of partying, well-behaved celtic fans on foreign land making friends with the locals. I love the way Celtic traditionally play football the right way and try to attack at every opportunity. I love the fact that the club was founded as a charitable organisation to help people. I love the fact that the vast majority of our fans are decent, hard-working people who hate racism and bigotry and just want to spread the good name of our club where ever we go.

it seems to me that been from dublin and supporting celtic and been from glasgow and supporting them is slightly different fair enough there is not many huns over here but one the main factors in my and my mates supporting celtic was a sense of identity with the irish catholic element of the club dont get me wrong ive no problem with non-catholics supporting or playing for celtic it just seems to me from this thread that its mainly football reasons people start supporting celtic which is fine and the more the better, just taught i would give my reasons!! the main reason i support celtic now is football but why i started was religious hope i made that clear!!! maybe im wrong and there are lads from glasgow with the same reasons as me!!
