right im confused about our centre backs .

we have misun , rogne , hoovield and loovens .

who is who , who is the best , who has the money been paid for , who can we expect to start the season ?

from what i have seen , milan misun seems to be our most impressive centre back when he plays . the problem is , they all look the same ( like a swedish boy band ) and i get confused.

i know we are still in the market for a central defender , but of that current crop , who are/should be preferred two?

(things got even more confusing when i saw that twadzaic warming up, another sweish boy band member)

Has to be Rogne and Hooiveld but there's no guarantee that nay of them tow can hit it off in a competitive partnership. Both on understanding and indvidual attributes, qualities and abilities.

Rogne could be a great player in the future and Hooiveld seems to have the passion so i'd go with them. Misun has a good future if he is on the right road and stays on it. Loovens is probably ok for the SPL but he needs to be at the top of his game to be that.

    i think none of them
    loovens - not good enough
rogne - too young needs a loan
hooiveld - injury prone and did not look good in recent games
misun - dont know bout him , too many people jumping on the bandwagon i think.#

10 mil for mcgeady priority no 1 defense !

i totally agree we need a new defence i would love to see gallas, ramis as our new cbs.i am not confident in the ones we have just now,and if we dont get quality cbs in then its going to be a long season

Agree loovens is not good enough, but if you have watched any of the games Rogne and Hooiveld have played they have been solid. Dont be confused by the game against arsenal where they broke us down by getting through Mulgrew and pulling our center backs out of position.

Milan Misun looks the part and is ready for the SPL in my opinion. He should play at left back at least until we find a new one.

They do all look similar from a distance and it can be tell to tell them apart.

If we bought a left back and a gk I would be happy with these 3 guys holding down the center back area for this season.

Rogne is the best centre half we have. I think the most impressive centre back pairing is Rogne and Misun, I think it was Lyon second half.

i'm not gonna slam hooiveld yet. he's looked bad when he's had to cover for mulgrew. i think he'll come good. rogne has potential but needs to utilize it sometime soon

O'Dea and Loovens should be sold and a new right-sided centre back brought in to partner Hooiveld (who might have something going for him). Rogne and Misun can then be brought through below them.

I really think hooiveld and rogne will be fine in the spl this season, problem as i can see it is that this * zonal marking has gone on for what 4 years now? thats the problem allowing players not to take the blame for there errors.

as for our fullbacks they should defend first attack second

From what I have seen Rogne and Hooiveld would be my choice. The problem is they haven't played much and haven't played much together. CB's need time to gel, find out who attacks the ball and who sits. Since the demise of Heid and McManus it's been like musical chairs in there! Glenn has the most experience out of the CB's mentioned so will always be in with a shout but my problem with him is that he isn't aggresive enough for such a big fella. O'Dea is a tryer but a bombscare waiting to happen. Misun has looked good but still too inexperienced to make the breakthrough just yet.

Over at the huns Davie Weir played nearly every game last season, that's what makes a good defence; continuity, consistent selection which leads to the gelling of the team. We had so many different pairing last year it was so unpredictable who was going to play. For me, pre season has been wasted. Lennon should have picked a duo who he prefers and played them for a number of games.

Hooivled Rogne for me...let's clear out Loovens, O'Dea, Mark Wilson, Hinkel - loan Thompson and keep Misun on the bench.

And sign a BIG CB - a real deal.

Also get a Left Back - a defensive LB.

Oh and one final crucial thing for defence - a Goalkeeper...must be top of the priorities - I'd go back and get David Marshall.

None of them have convinced me so far.
Loovens has convinced me that he's * so he should be on his way out.
O'dea is ok for back up but no more.
The rest are completely untried even at spl level so playing them in Europe is a big gamble.
I'm very disappointed that we've signed a string of strikers and midfielders but still haven't got a proven centre half.

Hoovield seems pretty decent, in the few games i've seen him in.
Rogne and Misun look potentially Class however they will need more practice and are possibly to young to be starting however keep as back up and Merge them into the team.
Loovens is pish and needs to be sold.
    However the worse is O'dea.
Then we need to sign another Left Back- Mainly with the money gained from Aiden- Safari looks good ??.
So one new Cb and one new Lb , however i would like to see Milan and Rogne with more game time.
These are just my opinions btw.

Misun should of been used at left back during pre season to get him more game time, hes already showed that he can defend unlike mulgrew

I always thought he was a full back until this pre season.

Id go for Misun and Rogne both solid and Misun is quite fast their both decent heights and when they too play together I feel alot more comfortable.
