Evidently not as much as you, as you clearly have a far stronger opinion than myself!:87: I merely think a free transfer whos prob gonna be back up anyway, doesn,t deserve the barrage of abuse he seems to be getting atm...

Saw Cascarino in almost every game he played. He was poor, but still scored a few goals and was a handful.

But you miss my point. Mulgrew was bought because he has an educated left foot and has good delivery. Mulgrew's defending was bad but his use (or mis-use) of the ball was the worst I have ever seen from anyone in a Celtic jersey.

I am not saying he is the worst player we have ever fielded and he might go on to have a great career with us, but I have never seen anyone in a Celtic jersey have such a poor game as Mulgrew did v Braga.

Possible. People are hoping for a 3-5-2.

I agree. Charlie is getting a lot of unfair abuse on here and elsewhere.
Mulgrew is a big Tim living the Celtic dream. Get off his back and give a chance to do the job. The season proper has not even started yet, and some people are totally writing him off.

Because before he signed, we didn't have a left back.

weather we have a left back now or not is a different story.
all in all I think he's good back up.

Why did Lenny sign Mulgrew - because he wanted to!

    And that's acceptable?

So if he wants to sign you or someone who is a rank footballer or let's say someone who is working in the Celtic superstore even though that person is gash - we fans should not debate it? Not question it? Not criticise it, if it costs us games and trophies and money?

Just saying he signed him because he wanted to is an unacceptable premise. This is Celtic FC not nepotism at Glasgow City Council.

Yes. 100% acceptable. He is the manager. He is the main man. Not you, me or anyone else on this forum or within the celtic support.

You can question it all you like but he signed him as he wanted to sign him. He may or may not perform this season but that remains to be seen.

    Missing my point.

Is it acceptable for the manager of Celtic to sign a player just because he "wants" to...ie for no other reason other than he likes him.

Surely a manager has a responsibility to the fans and his employers to sign players who are going to do a job for the club?

Neil Lennon obviously thinks Charlie Mulgrew WILL do a job for the club. It's not a view I necessarily share but if he thinks that then he's the man in charge and will live and die by the decisions he makes.

no one is doubting his delivery or freekick ability, it's his defending.

He needs a chance though, he was written off before he kicked a ball.
it didn't matter how he played against braga, he would've got slated by some.
like most scots, they don't come in with high reps and are often slated before they even kick a ball.

He will fail to live up to the price and that's saying something.

Hate to say it, but I prefer Naylor to Mulgrew.
