Wilson is the new McNamara in the making.

I liked Jackie Mcnamara, I thought he was a journeyman, not a star by any means but a professional, and first class clubman.
However something tells me Wilson is going to be a better player than McNamara! :50:

Agreed Dempsey - Wilson very solid and looks quality. Agathe flatterered to deceive a lot of the time

Good point, and I think that's the biggest problem I have with Strachan: he's having to reconstruct practically the entire squad because he hasn't managed to mold new players with those of the MoN era. Granted they couldn't stay around forever, but you can't tell me that McNamara or Sutton HAD to go. Probably wasn't all WGS's fault, but something went wrong there. I'm still hoping bad signings like Telfer/Camara/Virgo were only done because new players were needed quickly. Other signings have been good and so far the results are good. Time will tell but it's only one season since WGS came in and only 3/11 MoN starters are still starting (2 if Petrov leaves).

yes for me as he never made many mistakes last year and he won the league by a great margin and i cant belive people are questioning mark wilsons ability he has been one of our most consistent player since he arrived and i dont think i have seen him make a major mistake yet

Go back and watch Agathe before Strachan came along and tell me he was pish. That's a crap statement you're making. You easily forget games like Ajax and that 1-0 over Rangers when Thompson scored. Wilson and Telfer could never play that kind of attacking football.
Agathe might be an * but many footballers are (Di Canio, Sutton et al) but that's where a manager's got to manage them.
According to Ferguson, Strachan was an * as well. Like Petrov he was always wanting away but Fergie kept him, put him in his place and made him one of the best players in Britain.

It doesn't matter anyway because Agathe's gone and we don't have a left back so Telfer will play right back and Wilson will be stuck on the left all season. They'll get found out sooner or later.

    * *!!! what is wrong with some people? the job wgs has done given his resources has been nothing short of miraculus!!! he came and took over a squad that was on its kness, half of them then left and some others refused to accept him (sutton) he managed to turn it around and bring in some quality players for a lot less than o'neill had. he also got us playing a style of football that was 1 million times better than the drose we had suffered the year before. he won us two trophies and won the league by a record margin.

the majority of fans still look upon martin o'neill as a *. yes he took us to a new level but he also took us back down the way. he let that squad rot for 2 years and just kept giving out big bumper contracts to players who should have been moved on (sutton, thompson, agathe, lambert, balde, hartson). he had no clue of forward planning and when he left us we were an absolute shambles.
i for one was delighted when he left (not under the circumstances that he did mind you) as i had decided not to renew my season ticket because simply i could not have handled another year of watching the utter pish that i had just watched.

so for me its a * YEAH for gordon - thank you for bringing football back to celtic park and making me enjoy going to watch celtic again.

I think young Wison has been an excellent buy. The boy has always looked comfortable on the ball and slotted into the team well. As for Agathe he flattered to decieve in my humble opinion, sure he had great speed but so does my nephews whippet. Speed in itself does not a footballer make. Agathe did ok by relieving pressure on the defense by carrying the ball at speed down the wing.....but that was his lot. More often than not there was no final ball into the box from him. He often had the look of a rabbit caught in the headlights of an on coming truck, i think the club was too big for Didier, in his eagerness to please he often screwed up. Nothing against the guy, he did a job at times but just not great or consistantly enough for a player at a club of Celtics stature. Wanmadtim

I think tha GS is a good manager as he proved at Southampton by keeping them in the Premiership and now at Celtic by winning the double
