ok so we all know that we have limited ways to make money in scotland. we get about £1.25m tv money for the spl, compared to approx £25m that you get in the premiership. as we are in a small, less publicised league, our kit deals and sponsorship is far less than we would recieve if we were in a bigger league. it means that qualification for the champions league is a necessity to improve or even maintain the quality of the squad...we all know this!

so as we have limited ways to make money, instead of flying all around the world playing friendlies, why not make them come to us and make a lot of money out of it. we should create the CELTIC cup, just like the amsterdam tournament. invite 5 top class teams from around the world. it could be us, 2 big european teams (like man u, real, barca, the italian clubs, bayern) a MLS team a south american team and a chinese or japanese team.

as a consequence, celtic would have compltete rights over tv money. we could sell it to the US, south america, all around europe and the far east...and as a result we could make a small fortune...the tv deals would be so much bigger as every country covering it would be happy to have the games of other big teams, rather than just one celtic v DC utd or yokohama, which we are getting paid for now. it would not only be good preparation for us, but also the other teams who are happy to play in these little tournaments...as you can see from the amsterdam tournament or the ones in austria usually during this time of year. it would get a lot of tourism into glasgow and even the celtic shop would do well from the foreign fans...it even promotes our club worldwide and shows how big we are

Seems like a very good and obvious idea lol I'd imagine it'd be better to invite an Asian team though as oposed to a South American one.

I like the idea but one problem could be that the pitch would be knackered before the season has started with so many games in a short time

Good idea markobhoy, but maybe you should have thought it throught a bit more!! hahaha Jestin, every bit of that idea would work, it would definitely be massive hit in all these continents, especially if we get the biggest teams from each of them.

Is there a department within Celtic you can phone to suggest such ideas?

I also think it’s a great idea, I’m sure Celtic will have a email address for this kind of thing, if not just send it to what ever email address you can find at Celtic and they will pass it on to the relevant people. Might be an idea to email the idea into the football phone in program that’s on at 6pm on Clyde1.

Sounds like a great idea. Why dont you try for a job within Celtic Park, thats the kind of forward thinking ideas we need. It seems so obvious aswell. Good thinking

That would mean all your pre-season games at home. I think one of the main reasons of the pre-season tours is to get the team's morale up by getting the players away together for a while to bond!

Who say's we won't travel. The Amsterdam tournament only consists of 2 games for all 4 of the teams. We could easily still travel as well..

Celtic Cup line up to make most £ would be

    Celtic
    Yokohama Marinos
    Chelsea / Man U
    DC UTD

At home Sky & Setanta would bid for rights and also have Japanese TV who love everything western and DC utd for the American market.

This is a great Idea, well done Markobhoy:50:

Don't think the police would approve it. Les Huns had a similar one a good few years back and attracted the usual riff-raff to Glasgow!!
