    John Hartson

After tonights game you may have got rid of big John a tad early, he's been banging them in on the pre season games for the Baggies. He would have lasted you another season no danger, although he's only a 60 min player these days his goals could have proved invaluable. Did any one see Barnsey on channel 5 his interviewing skills have not improved at all !

    Just back from the game..

To be honest not too much should be read into it I don't think. It was a pish game and a pish crowd.

Quick round up from my perspective..

Boruc - Made a couple of decent stops. I was too far away on the second half goals for me to make comment. The guy is number 1 keeper though.

Camara - Poor game, bad control, couple of aimless jungle runs.

Varga - Some good aerial challenges, poor distribution but done ok.

Caldwell - Looked decent never really put a foot wrong.

Lawson - Looked ok, pretty fast, never had much to do tbh.

Thompson - Has been good for the club but time is up for Thommo. His positioning was terrible left Camara isolated. A good cross in the first half reminded me of what he can do but his poor free kick reminded me that his time is up.

Sno - Strong lad, good prospect. More comfortable moving forward than with his back to goal. Does not look much of a tackler at the moment. Lots to learn as he will not be afforded space and time.

Lennon - I love the guy but he didn't really shine tonight. He works his socks off for the team tracking back charged a few of the young man u boys down but never stamped any authority.

McGeady - Leading light in the first half, the only one who looked as if he was going to deliver anything. Good range of dribbling and lovely dinked balls through for the strikers. Faded in the second half I felt.

Magic - Wasn't in the game.

Miller - Worked hard showed good pace and commitment but he is never going to win a header from a long ball which seemed to keep happening.

    Subs:

Virgo - He's fat, He's Slow, He's really got to go.. Adam Virgo, Adam Virgo. To be fair he is playing out of position he is a defender.

Quinn - Saw him warming up at half time he has a good strike on him. In the game he had a few good touches, looked as if him, mcgeady and riordan were gonna put some stuff together but it never happened.

McManus - Seemed solid enough but he was too far away for me to really comment.

Riordan - Looks like he will have a lot to offer but he just didn't seem to get the ball. He gets stuck in though which is good to see.

No need to be too down as this is by no chance the side that will face Kilmarnock on opening day. Can't wait to have Naka and Maloney back in the side with Jarosik as well.

    Tonight's attendance

Any idea what the crowd was, i'd estimate around 25,000 if that.:47:

I'm shitin' ma pants for the up and coming season :54:

    Let's hope i'm wrong :50:

The ONLY players that would be in my starting 11 would be
    Boruc
    McManus
    Mcgeady
    magic
Miller (hopefully the partnership with magic is going to work)

The rest are either pish , or need a bit of work on

I agree with you on the fact that I am cacking my pants for this season. Personally the only players that I'd want to start week in week out are:

    Boruc
    Balde
    McManus
    Wilson
    Naka
    Maloney
    Jiri
    Zuraw

    Your full of *

    what about

    Wilson
    Beattie
    Marshall
    Balde
    Nakamura
    Maloney!!!!!!!!!! Ypofy

Shut up with your stupid comments they do not make any sence

It was a friendly it was to rest the big players for the first spl game and to see who was fit etc etc Yes he did'nt mean to lose 3-0 but the first two were very flooky we were the better team tonight exept from the last 15 mins if we had magic + miller on all the way and took camara and lennon off for wilson and jaroski we could have won or drew

The first two goals I have to blame on lennon for the first for giving the corner

Camara for the second just really bad winger defending he did'nt force him to even cross to the edge of the box as he was ment to do but he was on the wrong side and let him hit it towards goals

It's not often i'm left feeling angry by Celtic but tonights shambles against Manure has left me angry and embarassed....Most of whome we played against don't even play for Manures Reserves and we still couldn't give them a game.....

McGeady played some nice stuff in the first half and Boruc with some good saves......The rest of it i wanna forget as it was a total nightmare......I just hope we can produce on Saturday :54:

McGeady and Boruc were the only players that did anything, the rest need to be fined for poor performance

a was at the gme on thur n am a season ticket holder...a thot the perfomance was below poor but i dont think its something to get worked up or worried about its a friendly and we didnt have our best team out and the utd team were full of youngsters with a point to prove to there manager so thy wud have been more up for the game than we wud have been... also a see that here ppl have been picking certain players out who were poor on the night i think a number of players were bad the only i think who wernt were caldwell mcgeady n miller...now to my point magic again put in a performance which was very poor one lacking in drive effort and any detemination.. in my opinion hes a player who isnt interested in the team the club or in the fans who pay his wages..iv had this view for a long time and i seem to be the only one who thinks this about him ...kenny miller has showen more drive determination and effort in the few games hes played than magic has in time hes been here...in my opinion we should have kept hartson and and got rid of magic .

I've been following Celtic closely only for about two months [I'm a Yank, and only with the announcement of Celtic's preseason tour of the USA, and subsequently getting a chance to see them play in person, vs. DC United, have I become sufficiently interested in the club to go further than a passing acquaintance], so I fess up beforehand that what I'll say has no historical perspective, and no understanding of what has been the traditional role of "preseason" in Celtic's gearing up for the season ahead.
That said, it seems that the team is simply not mentally prepared, and not arrived at the players nor tactics which can set it on a successful path in Championship League play. As for SPL, I would worry about that too, although neither Rangers nor Hearts are doing a bang up job in their own right.
The initial record of three straight losses is easily understood. For Poland, those were just first steps, with many players having to be run through. Against DC United, well, the team was just arrived, tired, and DC is a fine team already in midseason form.
The next two matches in the USA, against Chivas of Guadalajara and the New England Revolution, showed improvement. Particularly in the second match.
Then Celtic returned home to best Everton, and all looked to be progressing nicely.......Then two things happened
First, that Everton squad went on to tell us something about its current form by being played to a standstill, 1-2, by arguably the worst team in MLS. Second, Celtic played to a very uninspiring 0-3 drubbing to Man U. This in Parkhead. There seemed to be no offensive drive, no dangerous attacker, through almost all of the match...And it never seemed Man U was trying that hard!...
Yes, all of these have been "friendlies". But they have also been preparation matches for a season that is nigh upon us. Frankly, they just do no look prepared....For the SPL this is not so serious, as they will surely find their footing as the weaks go by. But, for the Championship, it smells of a very quick exit. Yes, there is still UEFA, but if Celtic want to lay their [rightful :50: ] claim to being one of the elite of Europe, it is Champions they want to be! So, friends, please tell me that there is still hope of landing a striker of quality? Or at least of organizing a defense worthy of the keeper Boruc? If not at least one of those transpire, it could be a bitter season, this first year in the Celtic camp:fear:
