He's the biggest 18 year old ive ever seen and the slowest 18 year old ive ever seen and his postitioning is woeful somtimes I wonder why we bought him and hes big but he always seems to be shrugged of the ball alot and gives away daft free kick's.

But saying that he was thrown in at the deep-end last year in a title race and everyone was counting on him to be our solid centre half because everyone else was injured this would be a good move for him (on loan) just so he can get first team football.

Poor player. Seems a nice guy but just not good enough for Celtic, never will be.

    how do you know?

he's better than loovens and o'dea anyway, and pace is hardly #1 priority for a cb if you have one with decent pace next to him

    JOSH T

HE IS DEFINITELY ONE FOR THE FUTURE.
I WOULD PREFER TO KEEP HIM - HE DID WELL LAST SEASON PLAYING BESIDE NIGHTMARE DEFENDERS LIKE O'SHEA AND LOOVENS AND HAD ONLY ONE BAD GAME - ROSS COUNTY - NLs FIRST IN CHARGE, THAT IS PROBABLY WHY HE IS BEING LEFT OUT AT THE MOMENT.
HE WOULD BE A STAR IN ENGLISH CHAMPIONSHIP.

Well he was bought last season for peanuts, and was supposed to be a player for a few seasons away, maybe the odd cup appearence here and there, but he got thrown in at the deep end last season and cemented himself into the side due to our terrible injurie problem, don't think he was ready, and i think he knew that as well.

He's a player i would like us to keep, but a loan deal would be good for the lad. He was just unfortunate to be playing in an un-settled defence( /team ) last year

I'd rather keep Thompson as 4th choice and get rid of O'Dea.

I actually think he has massive potential. His problem is and always will be his pace, he is the slowest 18 year old professional footballer I think I've ever seen.

Because i have seen him play on countless occasions. There are no excuses for his poor poisitioning, poor marking, poor concentration and the fact that he cannot read the game AT ALL.

Poor poor player all round, even with a top quality defender next to him he would still be *.

ps. Loovens and O'Dea are better players than him and even they are pish.

ffs he played a handfull of games before he came here and by al accounts was supposed to go on loan last season so to slag off this young guy because he makes mistakes jeez get a grip of urself man he has a lot to learn yeah but he has time on his side our defence last year wasnt let down by him or any single player some fans need to get real with their opinions of players especially younger players

This is a forum. You express your opinions on a forum. I have every right to say what i want about Thompson, I'm not slagging him off im simply saying that he is no where near good enough for Celtic and never will be. I don't agree with all this " oh he is young, give him time to develop" pish. I can see no potential. I've never felt so nervous before about a player in our defence in my life.

    Very average player :86:

i think its good for him to go and play every game in the season. the only reason he got games last year was cause of loads of injuries, in which case we can recall him. he plays for England under 19s and at his age hes only going to get better.

The boy is indeed very slow. He has to go out on loan to a tough league like coca-cola or maybe SFL. He needs to physically build up his legs, maybe a full year in gym required as he doesnt some strong enough in the department..then his speed will come.

i did some work at his parents house near bolton (lovely people) and they were telling me that mowbary had him at west brom on trial etc just before mowbary left and promised him he'd take him to his next club as he was very impressed and they also told me that he'd been at old trafford for trials too but never heard anything after (think they went on to sign smalling). apparently he lives with cervi. nearly got to meet him as he was there 30 mins before i arrived but he had set off back up the road.

i think he's decent young player who could do well with a season on loan, his pace is of concern but bobo was never the fastest.:50::50:

He's an ok defender right now and he's young pace is a problem but he can get round that by improving other aspects of his game. Not all the best centre halves are pacey if you have enough positional sense about you, you can do well. I think he's a good prospect.
