His agent is probably demanding for him to become top earner, I'm getting a bit resigned to him leaving in the summer.

There's nothing wrong with a player/agent attempting to get their player better terms if they think he is worth it.

Gary Hooper is worth his weight in gold for Celtic in terms of: what he produces on the pitch, his value and potential profit etc.

The club should be doing all they can to tie him down for as long as possible - I am sure they are working very hard to come to an agreement, and I'm quietly confident that Hooper will pledge his future to Celtic - even if he did want away, I'm sure he knows he will be in high demand (and top dollar will be paid) if he continues to progress on the highest stages.

Norwich (in the last few years) is a fantastically well-run club on and off the pitch.

The vast majority of their current squad were plucked from clubs in the lower leagues and have become valuable players for them. The improvements they made to the squad in the summer (mainly Snodgrass, Tettey & Bassong) showed that, while still spending wisely, they are now able to spend more on players.

There is no reason why, assuming they avoid relegation, Hooper wouldn't go there next season. Their current strike force consists of an aging, slowing Grant Holt, alongside Morison and Jackson who, for all their endeavor are not 'Premier League Quality'.

One could suggest that Norwich's signing policy over the last few seasons is mirrored with the signing policy that Celti have had since Lennon's arrival.

Good on them - they seem like a good club and a good club to watch/support.

Although, they can * off if they come asking for our players :icon_mrgreen:

A little off-topic, but I'd love to see Chris Hughton as Ireland manager.

    Great shout.

I really do think the wee man is under-rated as a manager.

Would love to see Hughton as Ireland manager. Trap is destroying all the good work he did in his first few years with his stone age approach to the game.

Does he have an Irish granny? Maybe Hooper could play for Ireland, too.

I think he does actually. The correct pronunciation of his surname is actually Ho O'Per. Sounds Irish enough to me.

i will say this if hooper wants to stay and play champons league then go sign the * contract at end of the day creates security for celtic and why would celtic keep a player that wants away i just think hes has been totally selfish way t been handled you want away in summer then fine ovb because he wants to play juve but if thats the case then sign new contract so celtic can solidify a bit of money just feel its pure selfishness from the guy which why i fell lennon give him ultimatum u u want juve game sign contract if not then leave now because this club moving places and has no time for time wasters which is what t feels like the now

The daily record have an exclusive running, but again no quotes. Quotes of £5 million are ridiculous. Thing is, nobody is really showing any signs of wanting to buy Hooper, if the story is true and he plans to leave in the Summer, it's fine by me - but he needs to sign an extension even if it's just a one year extension.

At some point i'd also be considering what kind of player we could get on 1.2 million a year wages and just take the gamble, offload him if a better player is available.

We all love Hooper, but this has been going on for too long. At the end of the day, if people down south thought he was that good, they would have bid for him.

If anyone was sniffing about him the now you would have thought an offer would have been in. I've no problems selling him at the right price. (That goes for all our players). Aslong as the money is put back into the team. If its most getting reinvested then we shouldn't sell

The daily hun article is a load of * he could be changing his agent for a number of reasons there just jumping to the most obvious conclusion that will result in them selling papers

Off today's Daily Record *

Celtic striker Gary Hooper eyes summer exit from Parkhead

    13 Jan 2013 00:01
HOOPER is understood to want a move back south to increase his chances of being involved in the England set-up.

GARY HOOPER'S future at Celtic last night took a twist as he put plans in place to quit the club during the summer.

MailSport can reveal the striker is looking to move to a new agent when his contract with Simon Dent expires later this month.

That means he won’t try to force a move from Celtic in this window.

It’s understood he has told boss Neil Lennon he is happy to stay until the summer as he wants to play in the Champions League clash against Juventus.

His deal expires in the summer of 2014 and Celtic are willing to pay him around £1.2million per year to commit himself to the club for another three seasons.

But he will not pledge his future as he wants to move back south to increase his chances of being involved in the England set-up, a scenario Celtic understand.

Norwich would pay in excess of £5m for him in this transfer window but that would not be enough to persuade the Hoops to sell at this stage.

Southampton also have him back on their radar but will look to buy in the summer if they stay in the top flight. With a year left on his deal, English clubs would expect Celtic to settle for a fee of £5m in the close season.

I doubt the offer that's on the table from Celtic will change because of a new agent. Can only see that as getting the best offer from epl. But not one quote in the Sunday mail.

As I got foundation Maths, can some one tell me what 1.2m a year is in his wage packet every week ?
