    A striker who knows where the goal is and knows the league inside out... Yes please. Based on today's showing it's exactly what we need! Now punt sammy and sign keane 2! One can dream....:50:

    Good stuff, proven SPL goalscorer who won't need time to settle in.

    I have actually been negative about this perhaps too negative. If the fee is below £1 million great!

    This. Very happy with this signing. Him + Hooper will score at will hopefully!

    cant say im hugely impressed if we're going for Stokes over Keane, but if he turns out to be as good for us as Boyd was for them, then ill be happy enough....

    Do you have an intimate knowledge of the inner workings of Celtic? If not then how do you know we didn't go for Keane? For us to sign Keane Spurs have to want to sell him (which they don't), Keane must want to come to the SPL full time (highly unlikely) and he must take a 60% wage cut (never going to happen). Buying players is not just make an offer then the player is yours.

    I think the big problem is Lenny has had to rebuild almost a whole team and the board have spent, but it's been on a lot of players to build depth and cover. Maybe in January they'll open the books again for a blue chip player to add some class to a team that can grind out the results.

    Difference is mate, Stokes is available and will do a job for us, is Keane available? Nobody really knows.

    I would love to see RK pull on the hoops again but a lot of fans are deluded into thinking money is endless and players will jump on the next plane to Glasgow, both of which are not guaranteed sadly.

    If you want to be quite simple about it, we could have the players NL signed or possibly Robbie Keene, Shay Given and another 'big' player. Would that have solved things? Very doubtful............

    Keane is out of our price range, Stokes isn't.

    And if someone argues that we have money from McGeady sale, well IMO that's a myth, some or a lot of that money will go towards damage control I think, because of our European exit and financial fallout coming with it.

    i understand all the logistics surrounding signing players and we all fully understand that we have to live within our means, but signing stokes over keane is undoubtably a dissapointment (im not saying that keane ever was available in the 1st instance).

    But like i said, hope he does us what boyd did for rangers

    I can appreciate what you're saying, maybe the way to think about it is this;

    Keane is/was not available and comes as a disappointment, but we have signed a proven SPL striker and not done nothing :50:

    Everybody looking at that game today knows we need more than Hooper as an instinctive striker. If we had Stokes today he wouldv'e been on the scoresheet the amount of times we rolled the ball infront of a wide open net.

    Just because we are going for Stokes does not mean we're not going for a number 7 i.e. Robbie Keane

    Happy with this Lenny knows the more out an out goalscorers we have the better.

    The rest of the team are there to put it on a plate for the strikers.
