I was hoping it would be a 3-5-2, but by the sounds of Lennon it may be 4-5-1?

Unlike padmill, I was hoping it wouldn't be a 3-5-2, reckon 3 centre-backs is too defensive.

But I picked up the same thing as him from listening to Lennon - talking about switching to playing 1 up for Europe - you can't do that if your basic formation is a 3-5-2.

    Cha/Hinkel ----- Rogne ----- Hooiveld ----- Mulgrew

    Juarez ----- Brown ----- Ledley ----- Maloney/McGeady

    Fortune ----- Rasmussen/Murphy

    Or

    Zaluska

    Cha/Hinkel ----- Rogne ----- Hooiveld ----- Mulgrew

    Juarez ----- Brown ----- Ledley

    Fortune ----------------------------- Maloney/McGeady

    Rasmussen/Murphy

We really need a striker LB and CB
but this is with the squad we currently have

With the current batch of players we have at our disposel....

    Zaluska

    Du-Ri-Cha .....Rogne... Hooiveld .....Mulgrew

    Juarez ...Crosas

    McGeady..... Brown .....Ledley

    Fortune

With this team we will be able to control the tempo of most games we play and pass the team of the park. Only problem is that there seems to be a lack of goals in that side.

If we're playing 4-5-1, with the current squad, we are struggling for the 1.

Neither Rasmussen nor Murphy have the skillset to play as a lone striker - they need a faster, more mobile strike partner for their games to work.

Fortune & Sammi are not ideally suited to the role either - they have the skills, but they're both better coming from a deep position, and they're more used to that.

Since Lenny's told us he's considering 4-5-1, we have to wait see who he is planning as the striker.

I believe McGeady and Hinkel are both for the off, so based on that:

    ....................Zaluska

    Cha........Rogne......Hooiveld...Mulgrew/Misun

    .....Juarez.....Crosas / Ki.......Ledley

    Maloney..............................Samaras

    ..................New Striker

    ----------------juarez-------------ki/crosas------------

    ledley---------------------brown----------------maloney/mcgeady

    -----------murphy/rasmussen-------fortune-------------

if we sell mcgeady there will be a different CB and Striker (instead of ortune)

this is what id like to see with the current players

    Zaluska
Cha Du Ri Rogne Hooiveld Mulgrew

    Juarez (Dm)

    Brown Ki

    McGeady(RW) Ledley (lw)

    Rasmussen

I personally would rather play rasmussen on his own upfront as he can score goals rather than murphy and fortune who cant score goals.

To be honest I don't think there's a huge amount of competition anywhere apart from the CB slots.

This is what I strongly believe would be Lennon's first choice lineup given what we have now:

    .......................Zaluska......................
    Cha.....Loovens............O'Dea.......Mulgrew
    .........................................................
    ..........Juraez.............Brown..................
    McGeady...............................Ledley........
    ...........................................................
    .............Ras...........Fortune.....................

Not much real contenders on the bench (apart frm the CB's which are too hard to call) apart from that the ones pushing hardest are Samaras, Maloney and Hinkel. Although I rate both highly I don't see Lennon giving much chances to Ki and Crosas.

The main things that concern me are the lack of LB, the lack of settled CB pairing and the need for another poaching striker.

agree with this man, i think our attacks are goin to come from midfield in a very heavy way.

Think that England are a good example of how 4-4-2 is on the way out. I like the idea of 1 up front and being unpredictable going forward due to this with players coming from midfield. Our strongest area is in midfield at the minute so play to your strengths. a 4-5-1 is adaptable and we need to remember that WGS wasn't to far away from it working away to Villareal in the champions league a few seasons back. Time for change i think

Im not sure, but it said today that Lenny will play a counter attacking style in Europe with just the 1 striker, So against Braga (if Bullard signs that is), I would line up like this:

    Zaluska

    Cha Loovens Hooiveld Mulgrew

    Juarez Brown(c) Ledley Samaras

    Bullard

    Fortune

I think Big Sammy did well on the left against Man United & would be good support for Fortune coming off the left & play Bullard just behind Fortune, Ledley, Brown & Juarez can all defend well & go forward as well, so would be a good balance :50:, Not sure who else will join in the coming weeks, but for the now that would be my line up.

i think a rasmussen through the centre with people like fortune samaras mcgeady and maloney down the flanks would work. play the ball to ras, he distributes it out wide, turns and heads for the 6 yard box area with the other striker/winger coming into the back post or edge of box.
