Definately the main positive that Im taking from the game..
It looked like Misun turned his back on the shot that they scored from but apart from that I think the CB pairing did well.. Forrest did some nice stuff too..
I'd have liked to see our squad progress further by now so we had a goalscoring partnership to speak off and that definately is my concern.. It's not so much that nobody has staked a claim for the role of striker because we know that we probably can't rely on any of them for 25 a season , but more to do with how Lenny has set us up as a counter attacking team.. People might say it's how the huns play and it might look like Lenny is thinking of matching up with them , where isolating a striker up front can allow us to get more of the ball in deeper areas but I just don't like it and as much as I like to look for little positives from these friendlies , it often leaves me thinking that we learn more about what doesn't work than what does..

At least we've had a role reversal today in the sense that some players have become better players in our opinions through what they've done on the pitch , rather than not having played and therefore not having made mistakes = going up the pecking order..

I am beginning to think that. I thought Ki had a great game tonight and was picking passes out with ease, and he is great at set pieces. However he will get a lot less time on the ball in the SPL, and it will be very interesting to see how he adapts this year to the hurly burly of the Scottish game. That being said, there may well be a role for him as a deep lying midfielder, shielded by Juarez and Brown. We do need a creative midfielder to unpick packed defences, and thread passes through the eye of a needle, and Ki may well be our man. I am unwilling to write anyone off now, as Lennon may well keep playing this 4-3-2-1 system which seems to suit the players, and our style of play. I think Samaras is the one who is best suited to play the lone striker role against Sporting Braga away.

i do like crosas and always have and i think his best attributes is his passing and composure on the ball, but ki has the same type of composure but he varies his passing more and it gets us into more dangerous positions, hes also taller and altho not physical yet he has more chance of achieving that than crosas and he can obviously win more headers
another thing that ki has the advantage in is goal threat, cause hes got a much better delivery than crosas and a better shooter at freekicks too, plus once he gets in to a more advanced position he can hit them well more often than crosas who doesnt strike it well consistantly,

so in short they do the same job but ki does brings more to it

Thought misun had a good game, good physique, what a run by him as well to set up mccourts goal misun made a lung bursting run 50 yards played a good ball and the second goal was scored, was impressed by his composure, he will still need to learn when to play and when to be safe though.

if only this team could resist the urge to punt the ball all the way down the field. or stop trying to make the miracle 40 yard pass and just keep their heads up and complete a 5 yard pass right in front of you. team full of individuals. trying to bomb it up route 1 over and over again and just consistently losing possesion for no fecking reason. i can't believe someone thought misun had a good game. he's absolutely shocking. the central defence is a shambles. hooiveld should really introduce himself to the rest of the back four. desperately need a striker who can score, another centre half and someone in midfield who can direct us to make the simple pass first and not try and force a play that isn't there. its like mowbray never left watchin this *

Is Celtic looking at Montero? Do any of you have any links saying that?

BTW: The rumor over here is that Montero's transfer fee would be around $4 million US. Hope you have the cash.

Your supporters showed their class. Much better than Rangers supporters when they came over.

    Well done.

that was a pretty good game, just got back, crossing the border was a *, good thing i jackassed out, got lost and ended up jumping the line :56:

the game was ok by friendly standards, but we'd get through half a song and it would end up just being me, couple guys from glasgow and a guy from dublin singing, eventually we pretty much went silent, gave up

one point i realized a few guys down below me were singing celtic symphony, but they stopped right before the "oo ah up the ra" bit

quite surprised at the turnout of sounders fans tbh, really good support

4 million US is well within our range mate

also, your fans are class, loose the guy drumming and youd have an absolute fantastic atmosphere at qwest field, i also noticed no rangers/sounders scarves so that was a plus :56:

No disrespect to montero but if hes the big named striker i would not be happy he looked good was a lil bit dissapointed didnt get to see more of him. I wouldnt go for montero and spend 4 million on him or whatever the exchange rate is.

    Just my opinion

I thought MAF did ok last night. Not great but ok. He was 1 of our best players against MU he had the beating of Evans every time. This is all about getting up to fitness and getting back into the swing of things.

For our second string I would say well done. It was our 3rd game in 6 days.

    Hail Hail

I agree with most of that, we dont seem to want to build up therefore give the ball away time and time again, just keep the ball pass it about if you cant go one way go another looking for an opening instead of thinking * it wel punt it, really annoys me however i though Misun had a good game, hooiveld not so much

We should keep all of our strikers until we acutally get someone new, if we sold samaras wed be left with fortune and rasmussen how depressing at least samaras can actually score
