Yeah but Wallace was signed to do a job in the championship, that was it. This is a crucial year for us and we have to win the spl title and we also have a massive CL qualifier aganst Braga soon, Braga must be shaking at the prospect of Murphy's 14 goals in 110 games for Sunderland.

He wasn't always played as a striker. He was played on the wing.

Nope, at Sunderland he was booed of the park because in some people's words 'Is a lazy lanky long streak of *' excuse the language.

If you have talent in you, (Berbatov) you can get away with it but when you have nothing to go with it then you really are in trouble. Murphy was slated in his last couple of seasons in Sunderland, most because people thought he never tracked back and loses every header he goes it for.

Maybe he needs this fresh challenge, maybe he can prove me wrong, I would love it if he did believe me.

I know alot about the lad, I think we have been completely robbed of 1.5m

When players a booed and not given a chance it is counter-productive. any time I have seen him he runs about plenty and gets stuck in.

    £1.5m is peanuts.

Yes because he couldn't cut it as a forward, that is my point, if he has been signed to do a job for us out wide then yes maybe it could work out, but if he has been signed as a striker which it seems to me he has I fear the worst.

With Samaras we know what we have got, a player who will give his all, track back help defend, and he has quality, he just doesnt show it all the time

Murphy was a waste of him, we didnt need to sell him, keep samaras or sell samaras, then buy stokes and a better striker as opposed to waisting a million on murphy when he clearly dont need a player like him

Samaras came on yesterday and lifted the team, he was direct wanted the ball and tried very hard

They had good quality strikers ahead of him. Hopefully he can be versatile for us too.

Yep, I agree that booing is going to be a hinderance, anyway that argument is for a later date.

Murphy will not attempt the sliding challenge, seriously he wont.

Can we really afford to go ut and buy VERY unproven players for 1.5m? Duff from Fulham could have been available for a similar price and is a much better option.

The sliding challenge doesn't really concern me, just overall contribution.

Which in Murphy's case is extremely little.

Mate that is just one example I used, I can think of at least 7 players right now who would be better options than Murphy and would be available at similar prices, Stokes, Hooper, Chopra (might have to pay little more) etc.

I have saw Murphy produce little for Sunderland having been there 5 seasons, Im not going to turn this into a silly debate over if he is going to do it or not, we dont have a crystal ball handy, all I am saying is that in the probably about 90% of games I have saw Murphy I have saw nothing to convince me he can do it for Celtic, I hope im wrong, I will give the lad a chance which he deserves

Hooper hasn't played at any level tbf and chopra would command a bigger fee and wages after a good season.

Regardless of this I don't think Lennon is finished with strikers.

Yes but Hooper has scored tons of goals in the league 1 and now in the championship, he has proved himself as a goalscorer and normally players who can score in the championship can score in the spl.

Hope not mate, hopefully Lenny will have a quality striker lined up or even a proven goalscorer will do me.

This guy is only as backup definetly. "He is a decent player for a decent fee" I think that says all you need to know.

I have to say I totally agree with you mate.

Decent player decent fee and from what I am reading about him and what he is quoted as saying he is coming here with the right attitude and is going to work hard for us.

I'm not overly excited about this signing, but really * do I know in comparison to Lenny and his scouts? I wasn't a big fan of Lenny's appointment either.

So here we are,. Celtic supporters through and through and all we can do now is get behind these new guys, give them our full support and Trust in Lenny!

    Hail hail.
