David James

Is the David James rumour for real then....I thought it was just gossip would be a good signing give calm experience to a relatively young backline and may swing big Sol's decision back in our favour or could be same tactic as big sol and using us for move to EPL

 

According to the Pompey manager, Newcastle, Fulham and ourselves are interested in him.

 

James would be a good player to bring in with the likes of Cervi coming up , he would learn a lot from him and I am sure Zaluska would too . An obv not forgettin he is a quality goalkeeper an is still fit an able to do a job at any teem imo in britain ?

i'd take him. good to have for a few years while we look for another younger goalkeeper because zaluska certainly isnt up to the job

Great keeper, he's 39 so what Van der Sar and Brad Friedel are both 39 and still producing it week in week out. James has been terrific in the last few seasons.

 

Zaluska wouldn't get a look in with James at the club. Jamesis a top pro and a fitness fanatic.

people for get how well he's performed throughout his career, there is not one goalkeeper who hasn't made any howlers, fact!

Good keeper and would be fantastic for us on a free , i duno what sort of wages he would want tho , i like Westwood but i cant see us paying 3million for a keeper ,

If it was up too me i would go for the lad at Hamilton Cerny as cover for Lukas as number 1 ,Cerny 2 , Big Dom 3rd ,

the whole calamity thing was when he was a spice boy at liverpool in the mid 90s ffs
hes a vastly experienced #1 and if he showed even an inkling of being interested then we should do all we can to get him, i personally rate zaluska but james is a bigger name personality and essentially a better goalie he also has the same sort of presence that boruc had and i think that is the hardest thing to replace

 

Absolutely agree. Boruc has made some horrendous ricks in the goal over the last couple of seasons. James is being judged mainly on errors he made over a decade ago whilst at Liverpool.

 

sometimes his keeping is as dodgey as his haircuts,but would be a good signing,every keeper makes mistakes

 

something that most people have forgot about for some strange reason, but then thats football,a good shot stopper is a good keeper nowadays(not imo),when you look at casillas,he make lots of mistakes for madrid,and some think hes the best(aye right),but someone like van der sar who never really makes a mistake is underrated cause hes not spectacular,hes not the best but hes still up there,anyway james hasnt made as many mistakes as the years have wore on and he'd be a good signing
