    Martin O'Neill wants Aiden McGeady

AND EMILE HESKEY IS SURPRISE PART OF THE DEAL

AIDEN McGEADY is wanted by Aston Villa - and Martin O'Neill will offer England flop Emile Heskey as part of the deal.

Villa are ready to pay £10million for Celtic star McGeady and hope Hoops boss Neil Lennon will accept Heskey as well.

That would meet Celtic's £12m valuation of the Ireland winger who is also wanted by Spartak Moscow and several Premiership clubs. Hitman Heskey was close to Celtic gaffer Lennon during the years they were at Leicester under now Villa boss O'Neill.

Heskey, who had a torrid time at the World Cup as England flopped, has been told he can leave Villa.

The burly hitman made 31 appearances for Villa last season, but was mainly a substitute and scored four goals.

Heskey, 32, joined Liverpool in a stunning £11m deal in 2000 after leaving Leicester.

He scored 40 goals in 150 appearances at Anfield, but struggled to win over the fans.

His next big money move was to join Birmingham, but the goals dried up there and he moved to Wigan where he only scored 15 goals in 82 games.

Former Celts boss O'Neill then made a surprise swoop to take him to Villa Park, but he has made little impact.

Now the hitman could get one last big move - although there must be concern over his poor goalscoring record.

O'Neill wants to land former Celtic loan star Robbie Keane from Tottenham and needs to offload Heskey first.

Villa are resigned to losing James Milner in a big-bucks £28m switch to Manchester City - and they want McGeady to replace him.

O'Neill was a huge fan of the talented winger during his spell as Parkhead boss and believes the time is right for the player to move to the Premiership.

Meanwhile, McGeady - set to fly to Canada on tour with Celtic tomorrow - has snubbed Spartak's interest.

A source close to the player said: "Aiden doesn't fancy Moscow no matter what the money involved is and he will not be going to Russia under any circumstances.

"If a good club comes in England or western Europe comes in with the right money he'll look at it closely - but Moscow is quite simply a non-starter."

That leaves Villa in the driving seat to pounce for the player who sees his future away from Celtic.

He's 32 and he does not score goals? No thanks!! Give us the £10 million and Shorey instead. The we can buy a good striker, not too old either.. be nice to see someone around 26/27 come in to score goals for a good 5 seasons or so.

Aiden seems to have proved his worth if this is true, which is why we should keep him hes our best player no question some people will say he's wasting his chance at bigger football but to be honest the league celtic plays in is all that matters to me so i hope he stays with us.
