Over the next 3 weeks we will be running a series of threads with polls attached in order to find out who the TalkCeltic community's 'Team of the Decade' is. Each poll will be stickied and will stay up for a week so that members can have a good discussion of all the players that have played for Celtic in the past decade and can take their time to have a good think before voting if they want to. Or else you can just vote for your favourites! :bbpd: It will also give some of our less regular users a chance to cast their vote and participate.

The team will be picked in a 3-5-2 formation(I chose that formation because it leaves out the problematic left-back position and it was a formation we had a lot of success with in the past decade) and the polls will be as follows:

    Week 1 - Goalkeepers
    Week 2 - Centre-Backs
    Week 3 - Wing Backs
    Week 4 - Central Midfielders/Playmakers
    Week 5 - Strikers
    Week 6 - Manager

At the end of the 6 polls we should have ourselves an official TalkCeltic Team of the Decade and the results will be posted up for members to see.

This week's poll is to decide who will fill the 3 central midfield positions. It should be a cracker for getting some debate going and I expect the results will be very close. Because the team is being picked in a 3-5-2 formation people may have differing viewpoints on how they'd like to pick their team. Some people may prefer to pick 3 central midfielders like Martin O'Neill did like this..........

    Petrov---Lennon---Lambert

......while others may prefer to have 2 central midfielders with a playmaker type midfielder playing behind the front 2 like this..................

    Burley-----Lambert

    Moravcik

So for this reason players like Lubo Moravcik, Aiden McGeady and Shunsuke Nakamura are also included in this poll. The poll has been set-up so that you can vote for more than one player, this will enable members to vote for the 3 players they want to fill the central midfield positions. :50:

I think Maloney has more right to be there than McGeady.

    Lennon, Petrov, Lubo.

Maloney has only had one good season for us, McGeady's been playing for the last seven or so. Same accolades as Maloney as well.

I feel bad leaving him out but Lennon, Petrov and Lubo are close to my heart.

Lambert because he is one of the best CM I've seen in my time watching Celtic. Great captain, alwyas gave 100%.
Petrov mainly because of his engine and contribution in attack.
    And Lubo is jsut Lubo.

A special mention for Paul Lambert as well though. He was a fine player for Celtic.

I loved Lambert and if he signed in 2000 he would be in there.

I count him as an inbetweeny player from the late 90's early 00's.

    Great player, Great captain.

Petrov though 7 years stellar service for us in the engine room, popped up with important goals and wasn't afraid to sacrifice himself for the good of team (Playing Right Mid etc)

Neil Lennon is the best reader of the game I've seen at Parkhead, passionate and took no bullshit to stamp his authority on the game. When he played we controlled any midfield.

Lubo Moravcik is just slightly behind Henrik in my own personal love beyond belief stakes. What a * player, sheer genius in both feet. Controlling the ball with his *? Sheer cheek:icon_mrgreen:

Complete Hunskelper who arrived under grumblings off biscuit tin mentality of signing a 33 year old, when he left he was a Celtic hero. I was nearly in tears when he retired.

I Love Lubo but Naka gave me my greatest moment as a Celtic fan with that goal against Manure

Lambert holding with Lubo and Petrov attacking and getting 25 plus goals. Wow, we can only dream of our current midfielders scoring this amount!!

Anyone know what Lubo's up to nowadays??

Neil Lennon, Paul Lambert and Lubomir Moravcik.

Shout-outs for Morten Weighorst, Stan Petrov, Shunsuke Nakamura and Aiden McGeady. And Craig Burley too, since he's there - a fine Celtic player and would walk into our side right now.
