Agreed. It's a very similar league. The quality of the teams is similar, too, if you exclude the Old Firm. There are quite a few Scots in MLS who have done well. Don't see why it can't go the other way around.

a striker in America that does nothing but score is Sebastian LeToux of the Philadelphia Union. Has some pace, good instincts and is a good clinical finisher. Worth a look and would probably come very cheap.

Pretty young and grew up playing in Europe. Would be worth a look. Problem is that Philadelphia is a brand new franchise and they may not want to let go of one of their better players. The problem with the best MLS players is that they're worth more than just what they produce on the field. A guy like Landon Donovan would be good at Everton/Spurs/Villa, but MLS and LA would only off load him for a price that only the big European clubs could play. He sells shirts and seats and so forth, along with what he does on the field. Le Toux obviously wouldn't be as tough to sign, but he would probably cost more than what he'd be worth to Celtic, unless he flourished at Parkhead.

Come to think of it, Donovan would be a phenomenal signing. Celtic couldn't afford him for the reasons I just stated, but he's a class player with an Irish name. Can't go wrong with the fans there. :84:

I've been writing to Celtic since 2002 that they need to look at the Donovan. he'd be absolutely brilliant for us on the wing or just behind a striker in the middle :54:. your point is well taken about letoux. he's the face of the club in philadelphia and i don't think they'd part with him without a hefty sum. but you never know, they're very deep at the forward position. they've got a 17 year old striker who's gonna be the next star for the US. Jack McInerney. the lad reminds me of Arshavin

if we could sell fortune, i'd be open to it. right now we could probably pick up altidore for little to nothing. if he ever develops into a finisher, he'll be a great great striker. his lack of a work ethic doesn't fill me with a lot of hope though. clumsy on the ball, not much instinct and not much of a finisher

I'm a big fan of McInerney. He's scored som great ones at the U-17 level.

It'll probably be Keane on a permanent deal.

have u seen a handsome hun
when yer at a job interview ye spout all sorts of *.....lennon told us what we wanted to hear....the reality is mulgrew........who knows maybe i'll be surprised and we'll sign a GENUINE quality striker. but in my experience of supporting celtic for a good many many years.......we wont. as for allegedly selling mcgeady to fund a move for eagles from burnley.......jeezuzzz. aidens left toe nail is worth more than this clown.

Just a quick question for everyone...what is Their minimum requirement in a striker than would allow them to be classed as "big name"?

In fairness, it's not as if McGeady's being sold to fund Eagles.

McGeady's being sold to bring in sizeable amount of money, which will probably fund more than half our transfer dealings for the summer. The cash we get for him will be 4 or 5 times what we'd have to shell out to Burnley for Eagles, who would be a decent buy at the sum being quoted (£1.5M).
