We need a striker who has scored more than 20 goals a season for the past two or three years in a reasonable league, yes it will likely cost serious money, but you only get what you pay for.

Examples being Fortune and Samaras, nearly cost £5.5 Mil between, couldn't deliver the goals. Sutton & Hartson (each cost £6 Mil), pick one of these guys instead of two average players, the difference in cost is 500K, the difference in class is there for all to see.

They cost £6m in a different time. Their quality would be alot more in comparison now

We could end up signing a big name player, if we get Bullard, Chi, Mulgrew and Campbell we still havent spent a penny, obvioulsy these lads will be on big wages so could punt McManus, Maloney Samaras and we could afford to go and spend 6/7+m on a big name striker

i think we are going to get a big name signing but i think people are deulded if they think its going to be keane or bellamy me personaly i wouldnt go out n pay 8 mill for keane of bellamy look at the age's of them they have about 3/4 seasons left in then and they wouldnt be any porfit in the sale i think if they were to get sold in a cupple of seasons time u would make abour 4 mill a big loss. i think the big names signing will be a unexpected player aged between 22-27 me personaly i hope it is somebody out side the epl i think some attackers are just to over rated

Who would want them though, especially Maloney and Samaras? If they are sold it will be to fund the wages of those you mention above. We might get £1.5-£2m for McManus, about £1m for Samaras, and be lucky to get shot of Maloney.

As others have said, Henry is for sure heading to New York.

I guess "big name striker" is a fairly subjective term. I mean, West Ham just claimed to have made a huge signing a few weeks back and it ended up being Thomas Hitzelsperger. I think Fletcher would be a great buy. It needs to be someone young, but not another loan. Keane was a nice couple of months, but fans need to realize that Celtic can't afford established players in England. The market their is just too inflated. The less-known North/South Americans and Eastern Europeans always work out better.

There are some younger guys in Russia and in North American leagues who have good goal scoring records but are less known. They wouldn't break the bank and still have room to improve.

    Alexander Bukharov
    Herculez Gomez
    Edson Buddle

They aren't big names, but much more plausible than Keane or Henry.

I could easily see Maloney going to the Championship. He's had bad luck with injuries, but so has our prime target Bullard. (Not saying theyre in any way the same kind of player, by the way). Just an example of how a team can be willing to sign a "glass man".

Edson Buddle is awful. Gomes would be worth a look, it just depends on how much his team in Mexico would want for him. Probably a fortune since he scores loads of goals for them

Why would a Mexican want to cone to Scotland. It's a poor league and it's Baltic.

Buddle doesn't have much touch, but he'll finish if he gets good service. I agree that Gomez is the better of the two, though. Come to think of it, Gomez just signed with Pachuca, so there's no way Celtic could get him now.

I think McFadden's worth a look, but not unless it's looking like Lennon won't be able to get a younger guy to come. Losing McDonald is starting to hurt more and more.

The American market honestly is a great place for Lenny to be looking. If its true he is looking at Altidore, hopefully he is looking at other players too.. The American league (MLS) is very very physical and the defence honestly isn't too great on most teams... Sound familiar? Yeh, Scotland. I think that American strikers would flourish in Scotland.
