I think you mate might be spot on again then. Aiden is on holiday in Ibiza and Lennon phone him on Sunday night and was asking him if he is wanting away and how does he feel about Villa because a deal is almost done with them.

Villa have much better players already, Milner, Young they even play that Agbonlahor out wide, why would they need a winger that cant cross? O'Neil is a very good manager and wont sign McGeady under any circumstance and I will happily have anyone quote me me if im wrong and I will happily say im a dipstick! I will do it aswel! Thats how confident I am!

Cant see it happening tbh, MON will have a good transfer kitty to add players, don't think any of that will be spent on aiden, also whats happened to birminghams interest !

Milner is probably away this summer though. Leaves just Young and Downing as genuine wingers so McGeady for £8-10m or so would be a reasonable price for someone who can play both wings at a high level.

hes never going to get a game at Villa because hes not good enough, Downing and Young both are better crossers and Finishers, which is the most important thing as a winger and mcgeady has neither just good dribbling skills, if he goes to anyone in prem i think it could be West Ham

Downing is a bit of a sick note though and once you're in the team he can arguably stay there. He obviously has a high opinion of himself so there's no reason for anyone to think he's not good enough to displace Downing.

Also injuries and suspensions means you need 4 proper wingers and Villa currently have 2 (well, 3 with Milner).

Of all the teams in the EPL, Villa are about the best-equipped with wingers.

Totally smacks to me of lazy journalism - "right McGeady might be off - who can we say... oh yeah, O'Neill used to manage Celtic - right, I'll have that article for you in ten minutes"

As I say, if Milner goes then they will have 2 EPL level wingers. With Milner they have 3 and generally teams competing at the top need 4 so a mid-priced winger like McGeady in his "prime" or just coming into it, he is certainly a good fit for Villa.

However much truth in the rumour though I have no idea.

i cant see anything happening here until MON sells players, i remember reading that he had to sell first, and with Young, Downing primarily left wingers.

Doubt Villa would want him. If they do then great, would be a grand move for him. As i've said several times i think it's time for him to leave. He has grown too comfortable in the SPL and needs a fresh challenge.

    Ex-boss has pact with Celtic

    O’Neill not in for McGeady

    [IMG]EXCLUSIVE

MARTIN O’NEILL is not in the market to sign Aiden McGeady.
Aston Villa are in danger of losing James Milner to Manchester City and have been heavily linked with a £10-million move to make the Celtic star his replacement.
But the former Hoops boss has told his coaches that won’t be happening — for two reasons.
First, he believes he already has sufficient wing cover in his squad.
Second, he has pledged to highly placed friends still at Celtic that he doesn’t wish to alienate the fans who idolise him by luring away any more of the club’s best talent.
    Star
O’Neill bought Stilian Petrov — still a star to this day — for £6.5 million soon after going to England four years ago.
He followed that up by buying Shaun Maloney and taking in Chris Sutton and Didier Agathe on short-term deals.
The sentiment of wanting to avoid going back to the well has already prevented him trying to buy keeper Artur Boruc this year.
And it is one which will mean disappointment for McGeady.
The 24-year-old Republic of Ireland internationalist has set his heart on quitting Celtic Park for the English Premiership this summer.
To try and bring it about, he has conscripted the help of Robbie Keane’s agent, Struan Marshall.
Marshall has a number of other high-profile clients on his books, including England stars Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher.
    Options
He has started the process but has fewer options than he might have first imagined, with Villa a non-starter and city rivals Birmingham City looking elsewhere.
The offer from Spartak Moscow of £10-million in instalments, negotiated by his former representatives David Holbrook and Gary Hamson, remains on the table.
While it would give McGeady a huge increase on his current wage of £20,000 a week and £4000 performance bonus, the player himself is set on a move south of the border.
Spurs, managed by wheeler dealer supreme Harry Redknapp, are a possibility.
But for that to go ahead, it would require movement out of White Hart Lane.

Besides this source,I think it is highly unlikely that mcgeady would be played ahead of the likes of young and downing.Fair enough he could get a good fee,but lets be honest hes's probably the best player in the team, besides brown so I think we should do everything to keep him.

Any move involving mcgeady down south might be accompined by a player exchange. If mcgeedy goes to spurs we get keane as part of the deal. Or if villa do go for him we get carew,or maybe sidwell oreven curtis davis if big sol's deal falls through
