John Hartson claims it’s time for Celtic to cash in on Aiden McGeady

    The Herald
Think he got it spot on....McGeady to me is the perfect example of a player who's slipped into a comfort zone and thinks he's far better than he actually is.

I don't think he thinks that at all. He is a great talent but has stagnated at the same time as the quality around him has been eroded. Criticised more than any player at the club. Unfair.

Just BBJ giving his opinion on whether we should keep him or sell him as we do on here.

    Here the whole time
mcgeady flatters to deceive and for the most the team relies on him to come up the goods far too often, which more often than not he doesn't(7 goals and 16 assists for last season).if he was sold now the responsibility would be spread further through the team and that can only be a good thing

Nobody wants him. That's how good he is.

We're gonna be stuck with him and Lenny will have nowhere near the funds he needs to buy the players he wants

Wondering about my hole getting mustarded
From a few years ago his great potential seemed boundless. He's somebody I'd have thought would have been far improved by now, - hasn't happened. I'm kind of in 2 minds at times on selling McGeady. Sometimes I feel I would have nothing against cashing in on him right now, especially if it'll provide resources for new players coming in.

Comfort zone comment seems accurate too.

I've replied to a couple of ur posts. It's a discussion forum.

Clubs denying knowledge and clubs apparently cooling interest.... Tactical. Happens all the time. Plenty clubs would take him if they could afford him.

This is a hard one. I doubt we could replace him with somebody with similar talent for less than £6-7 mio.

on the other hand he never fulfills his potential and I really doubt he ever will unless he moves to a new club (could also cause the opposite and he woud end up at a midtable coca cola team on the bench).

sometimes it hurts to see a man with that talent and achieves only a little with it.

if we are lucky we could replace him with somebody around £1-2 mio that might be less talented, but more of a team player and therefore more important.

I strongly believe he will be here come August and there will have been no bids for him.

The only people who think he's worth 10m is our board but what do they know, they think it should cost 500 quid to watch that * every other Saturday

They certainly know how much money they need to run the club...

Totally agree with him. Nobody would be stupit enough to pay £10 million for him though because if they accually watched 10-15 games of McGeady the would no he is no where near good enough when it comes to devileries or shooting, which for me is vital to someone who attacks so much. He's been stuck on the same level for 2 years and that isnt good enough in my eyes.

    Thats spot on that bit.

And they make it by ripping us off???

5 years ago they undertook a downsizing campaign yet continued to charge us top dollar

It's a fair prices for a ticket if you compare it to others. The club have ripped nobody off. It's not compulsory.

The club operate in Scotland so if fans want us to attract a certain quality if player to the club they will have to pay at least that. It's a big club to run. Fans forget how much it costs to run the club never mind the playing staff.

Thats nothing to do with his technique and ability with the ball. McGeadys shooting, passing and crossing technique is one of the worst I have seen at a decent level of football. He just doesnt swing his leg the way it should be swung to accually shoot and cross properly, i dont think those * puma boots help. The fact he never lifts his head aswell is another thing that has nothing to do with the players around him.

Disagree. He is a good quality player and was fantastic when the quality around him was better.

They charged £500 to watch guys like, Mjallby, Lennon, Thompson, Lambert, Petrov, Larsson, Sutton and Hartson being managed by one of the best managers in Britain Martin O'Neil.

They then downsized and we are now charged £500 to watch guys like, Loovens, Thompson, O'Dea, Wilson, Samaras, Crosas and Fortune being managed by a novice.

Throw in the fact there was a recession during this time as well. Doubt you'll get many people backing you on this.

We are being charged top dollar to watch 2nd rate
