Greatest goals not an easy one...

    1. Jimmy Johnstone v Rangers at Ibrox 67, picking the ball up on the touchline about 40 yards from goal...runs past two defenders and sends a left foot 25 yarder into the top right hand corner right at the Rangers end - that goal won Celtic the league, the last and only time I think we've won it at Ibrox - and Rangers at that time were European Cup Winners Cup Finalists and we were en route to being European Champions - so you could say it was between Europe's top team and fourth top side. Was a Jinky beauty and one that will live forever in the memory as we swept to a historic 5 trophies that season.

    2. Tommy Gemmell v Inter Milan 1967 - a great move and execution not to mention it's importance.

    3. George Connelly v Rangers in the 1969 Cup Final...waltzing round Greig's legbreaking tackle then waltzing round the keeper to walk the ball into the net with the coolest of finishes at the Celtic end at Hampden - and he was only 19 years old.

    4. Naka's half volley v Rangers - the best shot I have ever seen in an OF game. His technique was unique and superb...I have never seen a ball swerve from one corner to the other like that in any match. It also went a long way to us winning the title in that run in.

    5. Henrik's chip v Rangers in the 6-2 match. Pure class, great move, skill and coolness of finish (like Connelly's) that really rubbed it in to Rangers.

    6. Murdo Mcleod's last minute clincher v Rangers in 1979 that effectively won the title. A great moment in Celtic's history and a typical Murdo rocket.

    7. Paul McStay's left foot volley v Rangers at Ibrox in 1998 to all but clinch the title in our Centenary year.

    8. John Hartson v Liverpool - a great move and finish that secured a semi final place in the Uefa Cup.

    9. Chris Sutton's chip v Rangers in the last minute that completed the whitewash that season. A fine move and brilliant execution by Sutty.

    10. Joe Craig v Rangers at Ibrox in 77, he turned at the edge of the box and curled a beauty into the top corner.

This is what made me search for this thread. I think there are two answers folk are giving, the greatest technical goal or the most important goals. The most important goals are quite obvious I think.

The two that I can't decide on which is best are ones that make me laugh and also as far as I know they have never been repeated by any other player in history.

The goal you chose because I do believe after some reading that Gallacher might have been Celtic's best ever 'player'. To score such a goal after an amazing dribble is just pure inventive genius. To even think it never mind pull it off is amazing and must've been some laugh for the fans who witnessed it.

The other goal is by another Irishman, Charlie Tully when he scored straight from a corner kick only for the ref to disallow the goal and make him retake the corner when he duly crossed the ball straight into the back of the net again. I mean that is some sense of humour and incredible skill level. That's another one that would have had me in stitches if I seen it.
