He contributes but he's obviously not the guy (main striker) to rely on to put the ball in the net.. Seems as likely to score from 20 yards out as he is from 5 yards out.. I think Lenny has him sussed which is why I see him playing wide right more often than in front of goal , which kind of makes us top heavy with wide men (when they are fit) and short on goalscorers , maybe leading to the sale of one (McGeady) to fund a prolific scorer this summer.. A fully fit Fortune should easily be a 15 goal a season man in the SPL...

 

I agree with mmmikey, Fortune is one of the best players we've got and I think he'll prove it next season.

 

I prefer Samaras. Younger, cheaper, faster, better finisher.

 

think its kinda hard to say really tbh? his 1st season was kinda stop start i think. but i think we could see the real maf this season?

 

fortune isnt a goalscorer but he brings more to it....everyone says he doesnt score enough for a striker but does it matter who scores the goals? if they buy a winger for 4 million that sets up goals like he does then its classed as good business so why not with him?

Lost count of the amount of times in the last few games he was playing out wide and keane was free in the box and he would try to shoot or beat players. His goal scoring ratio is abysml for a Celtic striker.

He's the second worst striker at the club get him to *

 

hard to judge him, sometimes he's rotten others he's brilliant ie the old firm game, needs to be more clinical though infront of goal , dont want him to end up being like samaras

 

just because your a stiker doesnt mean you have to score goals..you play there if u can do something to get the team goals.......who in that team can hold the ball up better?..what other stiker actually tries to take players on if there is space? he has confidence to shoot outside the box! u wont always get chances one on one with the keeper in a game so you have to try shots from outside the box aswel if you have a chance

 

Just hasn't got it. Strong, fast etc etc so are a million other donkeys with no brain or talent. Sell if anyone will take him

 

For £3.8 million I want a 30 goal a season kind of striker, he's not that, sell him.

 

Agreed.. I'm sick of hearing "he does more than scoring goals"

if he is a striker he should be able to score goals. His finishing and decision making is very poor most of the time.

Reminds me of heskey, who is another attacker I don't like.

 

Ive said before and il say it again the price we pay for players has nothing whatsoever to do with the player and im sick of reading in the papaer their price right before their name because thats a crock . Fortune for one has done more for us last season than laugherty has in 2 and more than tommy g etc and at least he doesnt hide and puts himself were it hurts and tries for the team and as a bug bear for me its right up there with " oh he only plays for them " or " he only plays in that league " ffs guys get real we all have our favourites but when a player is wearing our colours and trying then lets back him

 

There's a good player in there somewhere, he pulled a couple of rabbits out of the hat in Perth and at Fir Park, he just needs to be reigned in a wee bit.

Definitely worth another season, but we need more from him.

 

Just put the ball in the net ffs you r a striker . frustrates the f out of me sometimes.

He nedds to be more direct and head towards goal and smash them home we know he can do that . We should demand more of it from him.

 

Am the only one who recalls that * face Mogga said when he signed him and i quote" I haven't signed him as a striker he brings alot more to the team than scoring goals" or words to that effect....

 

He wasn't worth £4M. I would want a penalty box predator for that kind of money. His main fault as far as I can see is he wants one touch too many in front of the goal, which is fatal, as defenders nowadays are onto you in a flash.

We have Sammy who is a similar type of player anyway, but is younger and better I think. Mowbray blundered badly in buying another striker of that ilk. That is not what we needed at the time.

I would sell him and go for maybe Stephen Fletcher or Anthony Stokes.
