no he didn't. To knock someone back an agreement has to have been made between the clubs. Hibs rejected Celtic's offer and therefore he never knocked us back. Plus the fact that he had been quoted as saying he wanted to sign for Celtic and had a go at the Hibs chairman for not sanctioning the deal

Fortune scored 10 goals in 30 league games. Fletcher scored 8 goals in 35 league games this season for Burnley. His last season in the SPL saw him score 11 goals in 38 league matches. I'm not a huge fan of Fortune, but Fletcher is overrated as *. I don't get what the big deal is surrounding this guy.

James McCarthy is another great player we have missed out on.And don't forget Kevin McDonald too down at Burnley now.

Would the same people who are saying that not signing him was a massive mistake , have been saying this if we had won the league without him ? NO

Are those same people saying we couldn't win the league without him ? It seems so..
Were they saying this at that time.. I very much doubt it but we know how football fans like to claim they were in the know all along..

Maybe if the manager and players showed a bit of bottle in the last 5 months we'd have coasted the league.. We must have been ahead in 5 or 6 games over that period and dropped points.. Strachan dropped Mcgeady and Samaras to play JVOH and Flood against the huns at home.. As with the Mowbray era the blame lyes with the manager and the players..

    Answer: you don't!!!

Are you gordon strachan??? U always go on about him he ripped the soul out of our team and drove supporters away in their droves.

I would have loved Fletcher here but that was a year ago, it's time to look forward, we have a new manager coming in with his own targets. 1 in a row ia what it's all about now.

You're spot on mate, Fletcher is woeful. His first touch is rotten and I really don't see how people can proclaim him some sort of 'missing link,' that we'll regret for years to come. Much happier to have Rasmussen, he'll score far more next season.

    I present to you... Fortune.
good player, and considering he was for sale at the same price as fortune we really messed up there. Clearly we had the money so why did we sign a lesser player in Fortune?
Rasmussen who's started how many this year? Wishful thinking to think he'll be a saviour next season.
Compairing his SPL record to Fortune's- remeber Fletcher was 20/21 when he played in the spl. Fortune is 28.

Fifer if we dodged a bullet with him, did we get hit my a rocket in signing fortune?

Fortune was to replace JVOH who was 29 at the time.. Someone that should have been punted long before he was..

The strikers blew the league. The defense shored up nicely in the run in with the Cadwell-Loovens pairing. It was 100% down to striker injury and loss of form (which were closely linked). There is no doubt in my mind that if a good striker had been available we would have kept much of the 7 point lead and won by a good few points. Never in our history is it so clear that one position cost us the title.
