Can't believe we are talking about Danny Swanson and Craig Conway to replace McGeady....

These two guys combined ability comes nowhere near to the ability McGeady posseses...

Let's show our ambition and build a team around McGeady and bring in players who are of a similar standard to him...

 

couldn't agree more. Spot on.

 

These guys have shown a great deal of ability with not the greatest players around them, now imagine them with some quality around them, imo it would bring out the best.

I'm not going to say McGeady isn't a good player because I agree he has been our best player for a few seasons but his game has become so predictable and he still hasn't improved his delivery, we can only wait on these improvements for so long.

there is an endless list of players who signed for Celtic after excelling at their SPL clubs...Riordan, Fernandez etc etc...

If Celtic lose McGeady we will not be able to replace him with a player of his quality unless the board spent big money....

Swanson, Conway and McGinn these players don't come close to replacing McGeady

 

In terms of what....skill, stepovers..... they certainly come a long way to replacing in terms of producing a final ball aswell as having an ability to cross a ball! Or are you another person who is blind when it comes to McGeady's effectiveness as a winger? I for one are not fooled be his stepovers and fancy tricks, I want a final ball and the guy still doesn't have it at what 24?

How come he had the most assists in the SPL the most shots on goal and the most on target as well. No other midfielder, winger came close to him. Not to mention his goal tally wasn't that bad either.

 

If he goes, and I have to admit it looks likely, I think honestly Celtic need to look at someone who will fill the gap and possibly offers more, well comercial value.

The like of Mourinho etc. buy player knowing they will get no money in return but for the money they do spend the can at least get their moneys value on the park and at a club like Celtic we can atract massive names if we needed to. There is a rich board and our club is extremely efficiant and is regarded as one of the best run (in terms of finance) in Europe and even in the world. So if need be more money could be made available for buying a player who will give us more value on the pitch than say the 8million would

I suugest, Jakub Błaszczykowski from BVB, he coulde be fantastic for this club and would be a possible transfer as, we keep on forgeting we are a massive club with the best fans in the world, and if we put the financial clout into most transfers the size and tradition of the club will win over almost any player

I've no doubt that McGeady in a better team would be a better player.. Probably responsible for creating a large percentage of chances that Keane either scored with or failed to score with , so I'd say he performed better during the latter part of the season when he's had a poacher/penalty box predator to feed.. I get as * off as the next person when you see Mcgeady burst forward at pace and play a ball into the penalty box when there's nobody on the end of it.. Sometimes his fault and sometimes the fault of team mates for failing to support him.. I'd say his Celtic career is close to make or break..

 

martin petrov would be excellent get him for nothing pay 30grand a week sell mcgeady for 8mil and his wages are 20grand so makes logical and ecominal sence

 

Thats only because Keane was the only player he tried to pass to.

For someone of 24 who has been in and around the 1st team since Martin O'Neill was here, and still has no final ball is a disgrace.

Someone that can beat a man and cross it first time, rather than lose it to the defender then they break 2 or 3 v 1 against the full back, whilst McGreedy looks on and does * all to help. I would go for Matt Taylor from Bolton, or Etherington from stoke. They can both beat men, have a decent delivery, and can score goals.

If someone was to give more than 4 million for McGeady, then i'd drive him to his new club myself

 

In terms of several years at the top of the Scottish League, In terms of SPL winners medals, In terms of Champions League Experience, In terms of International experience, In terms for overall ability...need i go on

for you to compare Craig Conway and Danny Swanson to Aiden McGeady well to be honest its just laughable have a long think before you post something so silly next time...

 

Where are we getting the idea that McGeady is likely to leave?

 

Thats all bullshit! The only reason McGeady has SPL winners medals, Champions League experience etc is because he plays for Celtic! Its not realistic to expect Dundee Utd to do that but thats not to say they have a few quality players! It sometimes takes for a player to move to a big club to realise their potential! And dont talk about his International career, he's been kept out of the starting line up by a Stoke City player!

Answer me one question then....

Does the guy have a final ball??

Lets face it, if he had a final ball he wouldnt be at Celtic, a bit like if McCourt could last anymore than 20 mins of a game!

 

I think Driver looks good and could possibly improve to McGeadys level once he's been playing a while with better players. Other than him, I reckon we should look to Poland or something 'cos they'l probably have a couple of decent players waiting to be spotted and wont cost to much.

Very true, that’s ridiculous to talk about what he has achieved in terms of winning SPL’s and gaining Champions League Experience, that is all to do with what team you are player for. There are several far better players than Aiden McGeady, particularly down south that don’t have Champions League Experience and haven’t won their domestic leagues/cups just because of who they play for. I agree about Swanson and <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comffice:smarttags" /><st1:City><st1lace>Conway</st1lace></st1:City>, wonder how many assists and goals they would have in a better team with better players around them. Wasn’t so long ago they were both playing in lower leagues and they have improved a great deal, something McGeady hasn’t done in about 4 years. He has never turned into the player he was expected to become, hence the reason he is still here.

 

That's nonsense you are talking there. Does that mean if you are playing for a poor team, you are a poor player? Ever heard of starting out somewhere?
