I wouldn't say he was poor. His movement was fantastic. He scored consistently for us during his time and has proven throughout his career he can score all all levels.

This will never, ever happen. Boyd's lack of goals in Europe and against us is pretty bad, and no way worth £30k a week! I wouldn't want Boyd playing for us, we could get a far better striker who is worth £30k a week.

But unlikely to be for free. The £30k wage is diluted if you consider what he is worth (prob £3m+ to a lower epl team)

Well ok but 65k a week... Bottom line is he will always remember that he never scored against Rangers! Players are judged on that, Boyd has always been a bottler against us and imo Keane was pretty poor against Rangers!

Nah, i doubt very much Keane will be dwelling on not scoring against Rangers!! He only played against them twice! He scored plenty goals for us and was reason we kept the gap "respectable" in the end

While I don't believe this to be anywhere near true, I jsut want to throw in that Boyd is a * of the highest order, a flat-track bully that is exposed on any reasonably big stage, and too similar a footballer to Rasmussen for us to be splurging 30k/week on.

I've been saying for a couple of seasons now that Boyd is the kind of striker we need, he can score a goal from anything and I'm sure with the right players around him and playing in the right system he could do it against the bigger sides.

The fact he's a hun means nothing, to me thats all the more reason to sign him cause it will stick right up their nose.

I agree with you here, Boyd has been judged for years about never doing it against Celtic but as you said, Keane never done it against Rangers or Ross County and when I say that I don’t mean score, I mean perform in general. Keane was desperate to score against Rangers. Anyway keane talk aside, I don’t want Boyd in a Celtic jersey.

Keane is desperate to score every game. He got zero service in the ross county game. He is NOT a one man team ffs. Like McGeady he is the one that gets the pelters while others who do hee haw seem to get off scot free!

True, but we aren't the ones running the club and representing Celtic in the media. Ried, and most of the board, try to get it up Rangers in a public manner when they should be concentrating on our own affairs and not the decline that the huns are going through. Dr Reid should focus more on our club not theirs.

But Boyd to Celtic? No brainer. He would never come here and for that much money we could do better. But if he were to play for Celtic and gave his all then we could do nothing more than support that. But to sign for Celtic from Rangers is just a no go in Glasgow, it would be pure suicidal.

Hoops chiefs will match the £30,000 a week on offer from Birmingham City gaffer Alex McLeish.
Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell is ready to splash out a £1million signing-on fee to persuade Boyd to turn his back on Gers and sign for their biggest rivals.
Lawwell has been in touch with the player's camp over the last week and has refused to let his pursuit of prolific striker Boyd drop.
Now the 26-year-old hitman will today return from a family holiday in Tenerife with his mind in a whirl over his football future.

Bizarre - almost like the poorest tackiest fantasy literature...30k a week? Can't see that tbh. No way Boyd would even consider it anyway. Or is it APril fool's early?

Stats don't lie, he puts the ball in the net, but I think even the unlikely event of it being done, it would be a catastrophe.

Hre is hardly in the media so he has only mentioned them a few times. Celtic fans on here are obsessed about "getting one over on them" rather than us developing...it seems.

Who could we get for free and on less than £30k per week who is almost guranteed a shed loadof goals in the SPL? not saying i want him, just asking the question.

I do get what you are saying, but that is what being a fan is about sometimes, especially with a deep rivalry, is one-upmanship. It seems to part of daily life for a fan whether they are at school or at work, it is the way of life. Yes Dr Reid may not be in teh media all teh time, but on the ocassions I have seen anyway he seems more focused on getting it up the huns. Just my opinion.

(and jsut to keep the thread on track.... Boyd to Celtic?.........:green:)

Must mean he is committed to winning titles then. Good thinking to have.

Keane has always been considered a "quality" player. I don't understand the attitude of well he didn't score against them, and that means he's poor.
I wonder why he is still linked with transfer fees of 9/10million, if he's no good. I would sign him in a heart beat if we could persuade him to come back on a 2/3 year deal.
