There is little risk factor for a club with a fan base the size of ours. There is a growing waiting list, so I dont see your point. The idea is to make tickets more available so everyone that wants to go, can go. Demand may seem to reduce but thats only because there is more seats available. We also want to achieve a 5 star rating so we can host major competition finals, more potential revenue.

I'd be very confident that Dermot Desmond would underwrite the cost of the redevelopment.

The waiting list is a myth. Phone up Celtic at any time during the summer for the past few seasons and you can take your pick. I got the seat next to mine no problem by phoning up last season. The ticket offiice is inviting anyone who wants a season ticket to email them. Surely if there is a huge waiting list then they wouldn't be doing that. Tickets are readily available for all games bar Rangers games so it makes no sense to redevelop the stadium when the capacity is sufficient. Even the CL games had general sales, I know for a fact that the AC Milan game had tickets on sale on the day of the game as I bought an extra 2 from the ticket office. What games do you see us selling out a 75,000 seater stadium? Rangers games in the cup have went on public sale and didn't sell out until the day of the game.

The 5 star stadium criteria won't be met by putting in more seats anyway. Plus we would never host a major competition final as the SFA will always put forward Hampden ahead of Celtic Park or Ibrox as their venue so they get all the extra revenue.

So eveyone that applies gets a full season book with the OF games included? From what I hear from members on this forum, that isn't the case. Does emailing the ticket office garuantee you a full season book?

All CL matches, All OF matches and maybe Hearts matches if they are doing well. Some of the cup matches. The fact remains that will generate more gate receipts that ever before, you somehow think that they wont.

Hampden is only 52,000 we have over 60,000. Which would generate more revenue?? If we expanded to become a 5 star rated stadium, which stadium would generate more revenue?? We would be upgrading all the facilties in the South Stand plus the new training ground, so it would make it a 5 star stadium.

I did with no problems, can't speak for anyone else. The fact is STs are available so there's no point in expanding when the current stadium meets the demand.

Tickets were on sale for CL games on the day of the game for the last 3 CL group games (Barca, Shakhtar and AC Milan). Where do an extra 15,000 people come from?

The SFA would get more revenue from Hampden as they wouldn't need to pay Celtic a penny should they use Hampden. Look at history and you will see Hampden has hosted 2 European Cup finals and will be hosting the UEFA Cup final next season. Ibrox is a 5 star stadium yet hasn't held any major finals, Celtic Park also never held any major finals before the days of grading stadia by stars. Regardless of whether we get a 5 star stadium or not we won't be hosting any major finals.

It would take at least 10 years to recoup the cost of redeveloping the South Stand. It will take at least a season to redevelop it so that's you losing out on millions of ST revenue (not taking into consideration that some of the most expensive seats in CP are in that stand) while the building work gets done. Then you have the millions it will cost to actually redevelop the stand. We'd have to sell it out more than a couple of times a season to make it a viable option. The only way that it could and would be done is if we moved to a bigger league such as the Premiership, that won't happen and we'll continue to have 53,000 going to games v Dunfermline leaving us with 20,000 unused seats which cost us a fortune.

They were sell outs, do you think that demand stopped there?

I'll stop you there, as I said above, the club would do a share issue and DD would more than likely would underwrite a large amount, all of it if he doesn't trigger a takeover bid. He did this for the training ground.

You start redevelopment at the end of a season, minimises impact to gate receipts. Alot of those seats are from Season book holders that dont bother attending.

Our attendances are restricted in big matches. We dont loose revenue from expanding, we'll increase revenue

They were sell outs eventually, if they sold out on the day how are we going to sell 15,000 tickets? The only way they could do that is lower prices and therefore wouldn't make the money they need to make it a sound financial investment.

and DD is a businessman first and foremost if you think he is going to underwrite share issue after share issue you are sadly mistaken. There will come a point where he says enough is enough, those who invest in the share issues will have had enough too.

Even if we start redevelopment during the summer how long do you think it will take to finish a project of that size? The whole structure would have to be changed so they'd be knocking down and starting from scratch in that area. We struggle financially without losing any revenue. Imagine the damage it would do to the club if we planned redevelopment, only to not qualify for the CL. That lost £10million on top of lost ST revenue could put us back for years for the sake of seats which will remain unsold 90% of the time.

In an ideal world your idea would work but the amount of time we would be struggling financially to recover the money lost in constructing the new stand plus lost ST money from the time spent building it wouldn't be worth the gain.

It would be a nice idea to make the stadium look complete but it is financially unviable at this time and in the forseeable future.

We would sell out those tickets, more will want to go if there's going to be a bigger atmosphere.

DD just underwrote the entire cost of the training ground £9M at the drop of a hat. He wont flog money at transfer fees but he will for facilties and sane idea's. He's a Celtic fan also.

I dunno how long it would take I'm not a structurial engineer, are you?
As I said they're be no cost to the club because it will be paid for through a share issue, can you grasp that concept?

If's and buts, if DD and the lads thought like you, we'd be bankrupt 7 years. ago.

Financially unviable? Have you read an annual report?

Why are so many people obsessed with rebuilding the south stand? Is it just to make the stadium symmetrical? I know plenty of guys who have either given up their season tickets or sold them on for a season or 2, not because they've given up on celtic but coz they're bored watching the pish in the SPL. Sometimes I think the only reason for having a season ticket is to get into old firm matches and CL nights. You can get tickets to almost every other game, no need for another 15,000 seats.

An extra 15,000 seats @ £30 a ticket is £450,000 per CL match alone. 3 CL matches is £1.3M per season extra. Thats just gate receipts. Other extra income would be generated also.

Has someone got the actual figures for this, are there a load of people waiting to buy season tickets that can't get them? If we could expand it would be great but would we fill them?
