Have to agree there Greendave. Although it would be interesting to see exactly how many fans would turn up for our smaller SPL and cup games,

the south Stand is a listed building, this is why they are only going to upgrade the south stand to a 5* for fifa and uefa so Celtic park can host Uefa cup finals etc

Upgrading is on the list of priorities, the waiting list has been steadily increasing, so not upgraping will cost the club money in the long term. Once the training ground is finished, what how plans for an upgrade suddenly come out of nowhere.

There are no coporate boxes in that image... need somewhere to put the prawn sandwich crew

Simple fact is we dont at this moment in time need an 80000 seater,60000 is quite sufficent at the moment its a stronger team we need

Celtic are asking people to e-mail them if they want a season ticket on there website.

Maybe there are trying to estabish the demand first, for season tickets first.

Really no point spending many to modernise it then not expand it.

Better killing 2 birds with 1 stone IMO.

i think you will find that the main stand IS a listed building :86:
which is why when the stadium was upgraded by our saviour weee fergus he could not touch the afore mentioned stand because he was not allowed to :52:

greendave is right, its the school that is listed, and to expand the south stand the school would need to come down.

i will tell you what wee fergus told my md at the time when celtic park was getting an overhaul (btw i worked on the 3 other sides)"we can only rebuild 3 sides of celtic park as glasgow city council has told us the main stand frontier is to be registered as a listed building within the city of greater glasgow therefore celtic fc would ask you to amend your price quote to only include the installation for the afore mentioned 3 sides and not the requested 4 "
obviously i am paraphrasing the above quote but that was the general jist of the request from fergus :86:
btw this agreement cost my company £500,000
and also a few jobs as well :38:

Why would we need the South Stand expanded anyway? Tickets are easily available for all games apart from Rangers games so there's no way we would sell it out.

It would also affect season ticket income as who is going to buy a season ticket when they can pick and choose the games they want to go to? Celtic market the STs playing on supporters fears that they won't get to the games they want unless they have a ST. Also for those who bother to turn up to the CIS Cup 3rd round or pre-season friendlies which aren't freebies will know that it feels empty when there are thousands of seats unsold despite having tens of thousands at the game.

I reckon 60,000 is big enough for just now, there just isn't the demand for an extra 10,000-15,000 seats. The waiting list is a myth and a large number of those on it use the Huddle Club (now One membership) to get priority for tickets rather than to buy season tickets.

About 51,000+ seats are season holders, 3,000 usually are away support. that leaves a maximum unsold tickets of 6,000. There are thousands on the waiting list looking for Season books with the old firm matches included. You expanded the season you can cater for them = More revenue

The cost and risk factor of people not renewing as they can easily pick up tickets means it won't happen unless absolutely necessary. It's easy enough for me to pick up spares for every game now including OF games. I only renewed because of my away ticket record.
