The Bellamy and Keane rumours will die as soon as all the season ticket money is in.

There's not a hope we will get any of these players.

Do people not realise that Lawwell and co keep telling us they won't discuss players who we are linked to and are at other clubs, yet at these roadshows he is saying Keane is still on the radar!

This is a sure ploy to get season ticket money in, before the yearly statement of "We tried to get ****, but circumstances were so cruelly against us, blah blah blah"

I will apologise in due course to those offended by this post if in fact Keane or Bellamy run out the tunnel in the new season.

i dont really fancy selling our two best players for a 31 year old striker who might be ok for us. i dont think lenny or the board are that stupid

Lawwell can't really say he isn't on the radar when Neil Lennon openly admits to talking to Robbie in a bid to re sign him. If Tottenham stick to their guns and demand silly money then it will be out of our hands and we will have tried. As much as the board frustrates me, at least they are showing some ambition with their negotiations and backing of Lennon - not putting in 'derisory' bids for anyone outside of a Bosman.

    Hail Hal !

I think the wages will rule us out on this one rather than the transfer fee.

In fairness, the reason PL talks about Keane at roadshows is because that's what people ask him about. Lennon has said publically that he's been trying to persuade Keane to come back for another season on loan, so yes, he is still on our radar.

But Redknapp wants to sell him, and if that happens, then we can't get him on loan. Simple as that.

I don't think it's any reason to criticise Peter Lawwell or the board - especially considering people said exactly the same thing about all the Keane loan chat last year - just before we signed him on loan! :icon_mrgreen:

Cardiff midfielder Joe Ledley chose to sign for Celtic instead of Stoke because of praise for the Glasgow club from fellow Wales international Craig Bellamy. (the Scotsman)
    Hmm.

Pipe dream , If we do have the sort of money to spend on a striker say 5/6 million this should go on a player that we can sell on in the future , ie like the Mexican ,

Agree that these rumours may come about in order to increase interest in the club and the new season. Doubt we could afford a transfer fee AND wages for one of them never mind both.

If Spurs have pulled out of this because of that, then it's all clear.

We're definitely out of race for him, unless he accepts wage cut and/or City pay part of his wages. Which I can't see happening.

A £65.000 a week wage cut, i agree we were never gonna be in the race in the first place.

I reckon we could engineer our finances for one player to be on a similar pay arrangement as Keane, though acquiring such a player (Bellamy)(through a fee) is a different matter altogether. We could allow for a 50000, P/W player imo
