If you make a statement claiming Celtic please Irish fans as usual,i dont see the harm in you explaining it.

So,what do you mean by it ?

edit.......The Cross, representing a bridge between Scottish and Irish cultures, is the symbol of the club’s charitable arm, established to continue the work initiated by the club’s founder Brother Walfrid, an Irish Marist Brother.

    Yer good post mate.....

I know what you mean and agree entirely bud. Its a good event and I will support it full wholeheartedly!

(P.S..... On another note, just what you were saying about regarding the Celtic events, I was in Vegas for the celtic convention a couple of years ago, I was wearing a 80's Scotland top and Celtic shorts at the hotel pool, and some Irish * had the audacity to ask me..... * was I doing wearing a Scotland top!!!! I felt like breaking the fud's nose..... Rant over.... Apologise for taking it off thread)

I back Celtic on this though!

Maybe I should have said they ignore their Scottishness in stead of suggest they always please the Irish BUT the songs, the merchandise, the tributes such as the topic. There is absolutely nothing at Celtic to suggest they are proud of being Scottish.

This tribute should be for the Scots as well, but it's not.

Memorials are often held at games on the closest day to the actual memorial date, I honestly don't see how anyone can suggest we shouldn't have it because it's not the actual day.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

I'm glad that Celtic are remembering the day and marking the occasion, it was the Irish government that set the day to remember all of those who died or were forced to emigrate as a result of the famine, it's only right that Celtic mark the remembrance seen as there would have been no Celtic otherwise. that is not pandering to the Irish, that is purely remembering the foundation of our club. Yes we are a Scottish club, but we have a strong Irish heritage, this memorial is not pandering to the Irish as usual it's simply the right thing to do, there is no alterative motive.

No Mate, I really dont want to, I just feel they may lean towards the Irish routes a bit much, whilst maybe neglecting the fact the club is Scottish.

And I say maybe in that, purely for the fact i do not feel like getting into the whole thing with you, as I was merely attempting to clear up what the other poster was saying.

If you feel so strongly about it, why dont you start a thread.... ???

I was not the one who stated in this thread, that Celtic were biased towards Irish.

You and the other poster did......so i just thought you might want to back your sweeping statements up.

Could not agree more Danni :50:

Id say most if not all that Celtic do is pointed toward Ireland rather than Scotland....

Merchandise, Songs, Notes of History, more charitable events.... etc etc..... If you go to Celtic events.... Its Irish.... if you go to Celtic pubs..... its Irish!

Im not saying anything about it, just stating the obvious to be honest with you!

I don't really see how you can get your underpants in a twist about it to be honest.... Its not even blatantly obvious.... its simply fact!

Dont really understand what you are questioning.

But again, back to thread, great event and will be well supported by the Celtic support at the weekend.

You were asked to start a thread if you wanted to talk about it.

Start one yourself then.... You obviously had an issue with what we were saying, you asked me to clarify it, I just did.... then you say that!

I couldnt care less.... you were questioning FACT'S (For some reason)

I also think that Celtic doing this, is as Pat Carey says, raising the awareness of the plight of people in other countries, whom some supporters may not be aware of...... Cant be a bad thing ehh!
